The drains are finally gone!! It's amazing as i look down and no longer see my dreaded apron but, at the same time I am in disbelief that this is the new me. I'm just now sleeping in bed and that feels wonderful. I will post before and one week after pictures once i can remember how. I did some cropping so you just see a minimal area. Thanks Claire Glad to hear your wound is getting better. Will they need to do any type of corrective surgery once your wound heals?...oh how i long to lay flat, my back is sore from being in a recliner. If that's my only issue I'm doing great and can't complain. This group has been wonderful and very supportive. Love having friends that has had the same procedures that we can bounce questions off of. Best wishes Deanna Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App

Mine is not covered by insurance and out of pocket cost including all after care is $7600...i am having the tummy tuck with lipo. My surgeon will only do one surgery at a time so if i want to have the back side lifted it will be at a later date. Maybe it's their way of getting more money.

Claire Thank you for your response, i sincerely appreciate the honesty and details. I am happy to see you are getting better. I know there are many things that can happen during these type of surgeries and i have been trying to stay off the internet reading them. Reading open honest response like yours helps me be better prepared for the possibilities. I don't think i have the amount of skin that you did to be removed, 22 pounds must be a big relief to get off your body. I am a little worried about my iron levels being low, but the surgeon didn't say anything at my pre-op appointment last week. It's definitely something i am trying to get control of before the 25th. I think things should be fine, my husband fortunately is able to take a week off to be with me. Hopefully i won't need much help after that but i do have additional help arranged. I'm anxiously awaiting to finish this last step of the new me . I can handle the extra skin everywhere else and not having boobs, any longer. ( actually a relief not to have them). I hope your recovery continues to get better day by day and this is all that you will have to face. Everyone on this site has been so incredibly helpful the last two years. Maybe a newbie will read our post and have a full understanding of all possibilities. Wishing you well! Deanna

Kim I plan on sleeping in the recliner..after the first week did it get easier to sleep in bed? I will be going home the same day if all goes well. I will have a full tummy tuck with lipo and muscle tightening as needed. He said i would have two drain tubes and that he would remove one in five days. He is looking into a newer pain medication exparel?.. so i wont need barcotics as long. Hes not sure he can use it because of the medication that is used during the lipo. I understand the picture issue..if you dont mind sharing your tummy tuck pics my email is...momrosss@sbcglobal.net So glad you have recovered and enjoying the new you!.. I can't wait Deanna

    Skin removal surgery? Help!

I have no skin issues with redness or rashes.. i feel that if you have to wear support garments (spanks,etc..) to keep the skin from slapping everytime to move ...insurance should need to cover it.

    Skin removal surgery? Help!

According to my plastics Dr... it needs to be covering all of the pubis area..basically that would make it on me reachibg upper mid thigh.

    Jeans and Sizes

For the first six months i shopped at thrift or consignment shops. Sizes changed so frequently that i didn't want to spend too much money.

    Skin removal surgery? Help!

I am at 120 lbs lost but my insurance will not cover any of it because my "apron" does not hang low enough.

    Recognizing your own Success

Ambernamber I did the same thing!.. it was so frustrating to hear family and friends tell me that i was getting so thin and not be able to see it for myself. I am 18 months out from surgery and I started out at 243..and now weight 128. I still need to lose 5-10 lbs. The hanging skin is my issue for not seeing myself like others do. I have looked into plastic surgery and hopefully that will help. I think once i lose that, it will be my final step in seeing the new me. I'm very very happy with my weight Loss i just need that last step. I think you will see the results in time.. down 100lbs in six months is amazing congratulations on your success so far.
