  1. Have a supply of vitamins ready at home...liquid and chewable. This way when it's time to start taking them your not out running around trying to find them.
  2. Erin So sorry this happened to you. I'm happy to hear you are better now. That had to be the scariest moment ever. Thank you for sharing this!
  3. Protein....other than that I don't know if anything will really help or slow it down. I was losing what I felt was handfuls but it wasn't as obvious to others. I took biotin right after surgery and didn't see any big results, i even went as far as buying nexxium shampoos. It didn't hurt my hair and I'm sure in the long run it helped. I wish i had a majic answer for you. Congrats on your wedding.
  4. Hi Eroper6 I haven't had issues with low blood sugar but, I have had several issues of "brown outs" according to my doctor it was from dehydration. I am 16 months out and down 115 lbs. I still have 10 more pounds to go to hit goal weight.
  5. I took miralax and that worked great.
  6. What about crushing your viramins and mixing it with a little apple sauce?..
  7. I am feeling well thanks for asking. I had my ryn Feb 2014, and the first six months are the most challenging. Once you get into a steady routine it becomes second nature. Which surgery did you have?
  8. Welcome lisaanewme67... how are you feeling ?
  9. Grandmaofone You are definitely not taking the easy way out. They need to understand this is a tool not a fix all. I hope his family will come to understand that. I applaud your husband for trying to diet with you. It's very hard in the beginning. Keep your head held high and don't worry about what people think of the surgery. (Easier said than done i know). You are amazing and making the right decision. Best of luck!
  10. Gaelsmom Thank you very much. I started walk/jog about eight weeks after surgery..it might have been at nine weeks, when ever my pain was completely gone and my surgeon cleared me. I used the app "couch to 5k".. then i continued to add little by little until a 5k was easy (about six months). As for my food.. I know there were times i needed more Protein and in the starting stages i didn't add any additional carbs. So i continued to stay on the menu suggested by my nutritionist. Once I really started focusing on running faster and longer distances I added about 10grms more of carbs to my day. I also continued to track my calories consumed vs. Calories burned and just made sure to burn more than I ate to continue having weight loss. The day before my half marathon i allowed myself to have as much carbs as i wanted ( and that didn't cause me to dump). I hope this helps. Best wishes P.S. I was never a runner before wls!
  11. Thank you keddykat75!
  12. Last July we went on a cruise i was about five months post op bypass surgery. It wasn't as bad as i thought. I just made sure any new foods that i tried i knew where the restrooms were just in case it didn't agree with my new pouch. I personally didn't feel the need to eat, but when i did have meals i just focused on my protein but i also didn't deprive myself if i wanted to try something. I was so worried of it causing me to dump that food was never a desire. Hope this helped.
  13. Keep up the great attitudes everyone! You each are amazing at taking this life changing step. You are right it's not easy, but i promise you it is worth it. I am sixteen months post op bypass and life couldn't be any better. Just remember everyones experience is different so don't get caught up in what you think normal should be compared to someone else. Reach out to different groups on here to get great advice that worked for them. It helped me and continues to help. Best wishes to each of you! I'm here if you have questions
  14. Janette..that's amazing 104 down!! Whoot whoot.. who knew buying clothes could be fun again
  15. Claire I am shooting for August, I have vacation plans in June,July and December so i felt August would be best giving me also three months to fully recover. I had my hernia repaired during bypass surgery which i am thankful that i will not need to have that taken care of. I hear the tummy tuck is quite painful because of the muscles also being repaired. I am very nervous but, excited all at the same time. This is my last step in feeling sucessful from wls. Too bad they didn't take care of your hernia during wls. Did they say why you would need 4-5 nights?.. I'm being told i go home the same day but with drains. Best wishes Deanna
  16. Hi Kim.. Thank you.. The doctor said many go back to work after two weeks depending on the type of work you do. No lifting over 10 lbs for six weeks and no exercise except walking during that time. If all goes as planned i am hoping to have this done in August. Have you looked into the cost for the mommy make over? Deanna
  17. Hope everyone is doing well in your new healthier bodies.. Quick update I went to see a cosmetic surgeon yesterday with the hopes of getting my apron removed. My insurance will not pay for it because the apron does not hang down far enough and i have no rashes. I told the dr that i wasn't looking for a beach perfect body, that i just wanted the skin removed which is called a "panni". Apparently I am not a good candidate for this because i will still have hanging skin above my belly button, he recommended a full tummy tuck. Total cost for surgery and all compression garments and additional appointments after the surgery is $7000. Total down time is six weeks. I posted this for a reference for anyone else thinking about having this done. Have a wonderful summer! Best wishes Deanna
  18. WesTan2014...Thank You...I run alot now so my legs are not that bad, and although i have wings on my arms i am not looking to have surgery for that. As for my "apron" i wear compression shorts or spanks. I will be looking into getting that removed after July. I wanted to be a year and a half out from surgery before i started looking for surgery.
  19. Miralax was the best
