Almost at my 2 week point

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on January 29th. Since the preOp diet I'm down 37 lbs. I'm happy with the results but I have to say I miss food. I think it's because I'm not allowed to eat right now. Is anyone dealing with this right now? The shakes are making me gag lately because it's so repetitive. Other than that I'm so happy about the results. I can feel it. I notice the difference. I just really miss the "chew" maybe. HELP!!! Tell me I'm not alone

Matt

What are you allowed to eat Matt? Everyone here is on different plans, seems no surgeon is the same. My husband and I were allowed 2 weeks liquids after the sleeve, and we did a lot of low sodium chicken Soup, bouillon, mushroom soup, and of course the shakes. We tried every kind of shake but prefer the Premier Protein chocolate you can buy at Sams/Costco, or online. You can get sugar free Torani syrups in the coffee section and add to the shakes, or Almond Milk if allowed. Also you can add Crystal Light powder to the vanilla shakes. I think SF popsicles saved our sanity. This phase will be done soon then you go to mushies, and can have things like refried Beans, puddings, tuna, and pureed food. What we learned from this 2 months ago when we had surgery was to keep busy. Next thing you know you will be 2 months post op and helping others!

Thanks Linda. Yes. I'm on the same allowed diet except I can't move to purée for one month after the surgery.

Hang in there. You will get lots of replies, and learn something new every day. This time has flown by. I was sleeved 11/18 and my husband 12/2, so we had no Thanksgiving dinner and a "light" Christmas dinner. We were so excited about the sleeve and that helped a little. You will find so many friends here and check our the forums section too, there are different groups and blogs. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
