Oink oink before pre-op liquids?

Recommended Posts

I had lots of food funerals before I started my 2 week pre-op diet. But as I got closer to the date, it just got old. I ended up starting my pre-op diet a day early because I felt doing otherwise was counterproductive.

If I had it to do all over again, I'd limit the food funerals - pick maybe 2-4 things, then be done with it.

I have to agree with this. We all got to our breaking point, which is why we are getting wls...right? So I started my pre op diet 4 days early. I was just sick and tired of all the crap food. I was ready for the journey to begin. So it did.

I'm glad I started it early. I feel it really set me up for success..even if I didn't lose much weight, which wasn't the point anyways.

But..day of surgery came and I was more than 200% sure of my choice. Why? Because I had given up food. Didn't have a funeral for it..I wanted to FEEL that power over it..rather than it have power over me. Enough years had gone by of that and I really felt empowered. I knew I was ready...I was excited to have Protein shakes for a month after surgery.

I'm now almost 4 months(next week) post op and I've lost 80.

Do I miss food? NO WAY! I love the feeling of power and control WAY more than the feeling any food anywhere had given me.

That my friends, is a magical golden moment...for me at least.

I had one long 3 month funeral during my required insurance time-out, and I regret none of it! Even gained 20lbs. I lost 50 lbs from my pre op and the two weeks after the surgery, but I'm a dude so you shouldn't count on that ;-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
