Help me please! I'm losing my hair

Recommended Posts

I am 6 months out and my hair was falling out like crazy. Luckily I had a large amount of hair but seeing so much fall out was depressing so I got it all cut off and am now sporting a pixie cut. The hair falling out is hardly noticeable with it this short

Aww your cute with your short hair, I think I'd die that short , iv not cut it ( but trims ) in so long , something ab us cherokee women we look better w long hair, but heck I might be bald if I keep going like I am

Yep, I'm in exactly the same boat. I have hair that comes down to my boobs. Its layered and very fine naturally. The lower tier and the sides of my head look so sparse, I'm giving consideration to having it cut off into a bob. Every time I take out the hairband which has secured it, my heart sinks. Wrapped up in the band is what seems like half my hair.< /p>

My hair grows so slowly and it took me 3 years to grow it out from a bob the last time. Its quite depressing having to face that again.

I really don't think that anything can be done to stop it. We just have to focus on trying to hit our goals and hoping for the best.

I share your pain, sister :(

Wow, that's a lot of weight to lose and so quickly.. Congratulations and commiserations in equal measure!

There really is nothing we can do about and as you say, we should Celebrate what we have achieved.

We are most certainly sexy with or without hair. I think I might invest in some wigs or something :)

My hair is falling out to the point my scalp is showing, I sat in my bath room crying tonight, my husband just came in and sat with me, I can see the hurt on his face for my hurt. It's such a helpless feeling, it's bitter sweet, I'm losing weight but I'm losing my hair. It's mentally hard to see all the hair in my hands, on the floor, and all over my house, I just pray it will stop soon, and grow back. I just wanted to share my hair lose with others as it's be coming so hard for me see, I felt so alone till I read this post!

I know what you mean. I've been a emotional mess, and I gotta get back in good spirits. Good luck to you, and thanks for sharing that with me.

Hi I know it's very distressing loosing your hair, I haven't yet had my op but I'm a hairdresser. As people have said your body is using all the nutrients in other parts of your body. Your also eating a lot less oils and fats. This has a major effect on your hair and skin. Try including in your Protein essential fatty acids, oil rich food like avocado, nuts and seeds, drink as much Water as you can. If you doctor allows you take additional Vitamins and include some oils like Vitamin E, oil of evening primrose. I don't think you can totally prevent the Hair loss but these things could help to reduce your hair loss and promote healthy Hair growth. Another thing which will help your hair grow is scalp massage. Gently massage your scalp when conditioning your hair, this encourages blood flow to your scalp which encourages cell renewal. For the hair you have left, be kind to it. Don't over use heat styling products, try not to put stress on it which will help prevent breakage and split ends. I hope at least some of this helps. Good look with your journey

Monitor your Protein intake and in the meanwhile try taking hair skin and nail supplements. They contain Biotin which boosts Hair growth and may help you. I take the hair skin and nail supplements from Vita4Life and they contain 2000 mcg biotin an addition of 650 mg MSM that helps in boosting hair growth along with maintaining healthy skin and nails.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
