Freaking Out WHAT HAVE I DONE

Ok so I am two week and one day post op from the RNY surgery. The first week wasnt bad I felt good was down 26 pounds in one week. Life is good. Well now to the second week. Not so sure what I have done. My brain tells me I am hungery, my stomach hurts when I put Water in it or anything. I just had a thought that my tummy will tell me what not to put in my mouth to eat. Yeah it doesnt do that. I have had a couple of moments that i was like WHAT THE HELLL DID I DO.... I just want to eat like everyone else. I want to go to the buffett and eat a ton of food.

Then I look at myself in the mirror and tell myself to suck it up becuase you are gona be a HOT MAMA when this is all done. I knew that this process was going to be hard but I miss eatting lol.

It definitely requires a change. Make sure you are getting enough water or liquids. I had a few bad experiences but that is sometimes part of the process. Hang in there.

Thanks I woulnt go back and change anything. Just a new way of living.

I think everyone goes through one of these "what the hell have I done?" moments right after surgery. You're still just a couple weeks post op so it will take a little time for you and your new pouch to get in synch and adjust to your new post-op lifestyle. I remember being super sensitive to food smells at about your stage and the head hunger was really bad. Things should start getting better/easier a little each day!

I have good news and bad news news:

Good news - you are 100% normal and right in track

Bad news - it will get worse before it gets better. You have a few more stages to go through and your head is not done torturing you.

Stage :

1 - what the hell did I do

2 - first stall - usually hits around the first month - people usually freak out a little during this stage. No it does not mean you have failed

No it does not mean you are done losing weight

No it does not mean you are a failure

3 - what the hell did I do stage - again

4 - stage 3 is closely followed by raging hormones. You feel like you are a pubescent teenager. Crying at everything and feeling in the mood for a little "fun" ten minutes later. Please be careful during this stage as we become very fertile.

5 - finally hit your groove. Once you survive all those stages in the first 6 weeks you realize you got this and can get through everything! Oh and that's about the time you get to go shopping!

OMG thank you music1618 I thought that I was loosing my mind. My mom had her surgery in Aug and she hit all of this and I thought she was going CRAZY so now I will know that I am going to be just like that. I am trying to learn how much is enough. What a learning process. But I am trying to stay positive.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi! I also am going through some rough spots (had the gastric bypass 10 days ago)...crying a lot wondering why I did this to myself...crying when smelling the food my family is making...but also experiencing some other issues that I wonder if you guys went through....might have pulled an inner stitch while coughing and now have to rest like I did right after surgery ....and now I am extremely itchy everywhere (think I'm allergic to the urisudiol that they put me on twice a day because I still have my gallbladder)!
