I haven't been on in a while...but have been reading your posts...have to say that reading everyone's posts since having surgery in February has been a life saver...knowing we have all been going through the same issues and the same up an downs! The day of my surgery I weighed 234 pounds...today I weigh 158! (76 pounds lost that I hope to never find!))- February 2014 post op losers
You look awesome!!- Permanent Stall
I had my surgery on February 4th (RNY) (4 months ago too)...I'm only down 48 pounds.... I stopped drinking protein shakes 3-4 weeks after surgery...2 reasons why-> they left a very bad taste in my mouth which in turn made me feel nauseous....and 2nd...the soy that is in most of these protein drinks have prevented me from losing weight in the past! I have hypothyroidism and learned over the years that extra added soy in my diet wasn't good at all for me....actually ended up gaining weight...years ago I learned this when I went on Jenny Craig weight loss program....my brief weight loss stopped...I started gaining weight again...felt sluggish...and found out my thyroid problem got worse! Knowing all of this...and feeling sick after drinking protein drinks...I stopped 3 weeks after surgery...my Bariatric clinic actually wants you to stop drinking the shakes after 8 weeks. So my question to you is...what kind of shakes are you drinking?... Are you having a bad reaction to all the soy that is in your diet (it's in our Bariatric vitamins, shakes etc!). Take a look at the ingredients...do you have an under active thyroid now? I hope this is helpful!- Permanent Stall
