Onedaycloser, I started Couch to 5K training four weeks ago. I ran/walked a 5k in 30 minutes this weekend! Let me tell you, with my history of bad knees I NEVER thought this could happen. I love the surprises in this journey!

WOW you look terRIFic! Congratulations! I am so envious!

I also have bad knees, and I haven't even considered running. What made you decide it was worth a try? I'm afraid of my worse one giving way, and then I'd fall, get all banged up, maybe even hurt the knee more. Any words of wisdom?

JeanZ, I was bored with walking and I LOVE being outside. Plus my dog was getting fat!! I looked at a couch to 5K program and saw the first week was only running for 60 seconds at a time. I promised myself I would give it two weeks and see how it went. Just try it. If it's not for you, then no harm done. It's about getting out there and having a sense if adventure!! Go as slow as you need to!

I am super impressed with you and you are my new (s)hero..... I have been contemplating c25k and honestly it seems daunting. I'm still really overweight. Although, I can walk a couple miles with no problem, I worry my joints will rebel! But you have given me some motivation.

Awwww.. That's a first! A shero! Remember you can do week one more than once. Just move at your own pace. There's a Zombies! Run! App that takes you through a story if a zombie apocalypse as you do the c25k. I might switch to that one. Sounds fun!

Hot Damn lady...you look gorgeous! But even cooler than your looks is the fact that you just completed a 5k! You must be so amazed and proud of yourself. That is one of my deepest desires...to be the hot mamma who is jogging through the park on a regular basis. You are inspirational!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
