Question on food week 2

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved jan 16 and have had a really easy time. I can tolerate most everything I try (full liquids) and have no problem with Water.

However the last few days I have been able to eat an entire take out container (8oz I think?) of strained creamed Soups. This seems like a lot to me, but if I only eat half of it I'm still hungry. Granted I don't eat much else in the day (drink a lot of water) and it takes me about 45 mins to an hour to eat it, but it takes that whole amount to "fill me up". I still am not entirely sure what full feels like on this new stomach.

Just need some feedback. Seems like more food than others can handle at only a bit over a week out. I have another week of full liquids.

Am afraid this means the surgery won't work well for me. Doesn't help that I'm already at a stall. Lost 20 pounds pre op and 8-10 since surgery, depending which scale I'm going by, mine is less than doctors.

I was sleeved Jan 17, today is only my second day off of Clear Liquids. I have lost 13.4 pounds since surgery.

I can also eat 8oz of Soup and it will take me 45 minutes as well. It was suggested to me to stop at 30 minutes.

That is what I have been doing and getting rid of the "leftovers" so I don't think about them. I think part of it is the old brain trick of having to clean your plate.

I definitely think you are taking too long to eat. With liquids they pass thru more quickly so by the time you are at 45mins what you ate at the beginning has passed thru. That's the whole notion of "sliders."

Stop after half an hour and move on. You don't need to be full, just satiated/not hungry anymore.

I can drink a cup of Tomato Soup, sure. But I think that's because it's a liquid. I was sleeved Jan 14th.

Sleeved on the 17th, I can eat creamed Soup, apple sauce and yoplait greek yogart. And it is a wonderful experince to enjoy these new additions of food to my menu!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
