Recommended Posts

Hi there, is there anyone here having surgery in March? What are you doing now to prepare for the sleeve, and what is your diet like?

I am! Mine is March 5.

Right now I drink a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch and whatever I want for dinner. February 17 I have to go on the two week all liquid diet, but I'm planning to start easier. I've ordered different powders to try, but mostly I like Premier Protein from Sams (ready to drink kind). I've slowly been knocking out my food funerals and honestly, I'm getting less and less interested in food and more and more excited about the future and my surgery.

Other things I'm doing: I'm looking into books, support groups, reading these forums. I'm going to probably buy a journal (like Fitbook) and some other tools (like measuring cups, a food scale, etc). I'm just trying to get as prepared as possible and read about other's people's experiences. I'm really looking forward to going to the support group at the hospital I'm going to. I hope I meet someone I like!

Exercise is going to be my weakness for sure. I've always struggled to committ. I've hid my personal dissatisfaction with myself with work. I currently work 3 jobs so I'm always busy. I'll be quitting one job the end of February, and the second part time job after my restrictions are up with recovery. At least that's my plan right now.

What about you?

Hey we have the same surgery date! I'm March 5th as well. My 2 week pre-op diet sounds like what you are doing now. Protein shakes and a sensible dinner. I wanted to try out different Protein powders as well but I keep hearing that you might not like the same ones after surgery? I'm not sure why that is but I don't want to buy a bunch of something I like now just to waste it because that stuff is not cheap! I have to do 3 days of full liquids prior to surgery but I'm not sure if it's full liquids or not? I really hope so because 3 days of Clear Liquids sounds very, very scary to me. I'm committed and I will do it but still...scary. I have an appointment for blood work next week and will ask for clarification.

Weirdly I don't seem to have a lot of interest in food funerals. If I could get to New Orleans for one more time at ACME Oyster Bar I probably would but that's about it. I'm trying to change my habits now and look forward to having a powerful tool to help me conquer my weight issues. Today I bought Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies and The Emotional First Aid Kit because I'd like to be as prepared as possible for life after surgery.

Just got scheduled today for March 4th. I have slowly been incorporating foods into my diet that I'll be able to have before and after. I've been eating more yogurt and trying different broths. I'm going Protein shopping this weekend. I'll start my liquid diet in three weeks.

I gave up using straws for the most part a few months ago and I'm working on not having any carbonated drinks. I need to cut back on caffeine but that's going to be really really hard.

And the most exciting thing I've done so far is clothes shopping. I'm a 22/24 right now and I bought some smaller jeans. I just kind of look at them in the mornings and think how I can't wait till even those are too big for me.

Hi all-I'm scheduled for March 3rd. Right not I'm just trying to get in fruits/veggies, control portions and add in some Protein supplements. I start my pre-op diet on Feb 19th. I've cut out all soda and caffeine at this point too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
