I am curious, I am4 days post op. Everything I eat causes massive gas. Is this normal?

I have a theory (completely NOT backed by scientific evidence) that when that band goes in, it changes the whole pressure system of your esophagus and stomach. I theorize that the smaller opening does not allow gas to go up and escape as a burp. (I never burp since surgery unless it's while I'm eating and even then they're small). So the gas stays in your stomach and the only way out is through the intestines.

Now, I have always been a "gassier" person. And now, I am just a lean, mean, tootin' machine. But, since I've been eating healthier, they seem to stink less. So my husband is over in his chair breathing in huge amounts of methane and he's none for the wiser.

And also, the reintroduction of real food after the cleansing of a liquid diet probably helps create more gas too.

Watch out after surgery too. liquids in means liquids out and sometimes what you may think is a toot.....well, you can imagine.

Was this whole response TMI? lol.

Preach on Leepers! I thought I was the only one not burping but blowing the butt trumpet! Unfortunately my husband and three boys try to match me toot for toot since I burp like a newborn now.

You guys are having to much fun on this subject as you should , well for me I am 17 months post op and I will sill people don't get to close cause my band is playing it's music today , and another one of us who I think might be like a few onths before me says she the jiffy pop queen lol you should read some of our post about gas , yes if we could just put the stuff in our cars we would always be on full lol , and just speaking for e it has not got better I have tho learned it is not as noisey or stanky than what I thought , of course now it really depends on what I eat , so good luck on the musical instrument you didn't know you could play , so to debravasquez it is normal , also when you had surgery they pumped air in , just to let you know , so when you feel like you can walk around your house , apt or what ever , then try to walk a bit , so soe of the gas can come out fro either end lol , hope this helped, and if your never sure of anything always call and ask your surgeon , I do I even had to ask mine about this when I started, so yes I ask what ever it may be even now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
