Hi Girls,

Well I'm back, banded, and feeling very good. :) Jerome the wonderful man that he is put 3mls into my band so I'v lost the extra weight that I put on over the two weeks already. :clap2: I have to say the op was a lot easier this time round and I didn't get the wind pains in my back and neck like the first time. I so missed the band I was eating like there was no tomorrow. I am still on liquids but am looking forward to the sloppy's from Sat. :)

Thanks to all of you who wished me luck. It worked I got lucky on Friday the 13th. :):)

TERRY you have lost 12lbs already. Well Done.:whoo:

LOU size 14 and you have no restriction. Well Done. :whoo:

KERMIT Thanks for your kind words. :)

ALLURE I feel real bad for you, this is not how the band is supposed to work, you should not be struggling like this. Make an appointment with Jerome or phone Tara or Debbie, tell them that you are hungry all the time and that you can eat anything you want. Remind them that if weight watchers worked that you would not have had the op and that you need more restriction in your band or that it needs to be checked out to make sure that its working properly, with 4mls in you should definitely have restriction. When I had 4mls in it was the start of regular weight loss every week for me. Don't leave it any longer, and don't let them tell you that you need to eat less, tell them if the band was doing its job that you would be eating less. Don't let them fob you off with the "everyone is different" routine, your band is more than half full, remind them of that. I hope you get sorted soon. Keep in touch and don't be afraid to post here for support, thats why we are here to support each other. :):girl_hug:

Hi there, I am new to this forum. I have my first consultation with the surgeon next Friday March 30th:) . I am so excited but also nervous.

I have been reading through a few posts and it is so good to see that the majority of the feedback is positive.

I will be having my surgery done in Dublin and I was wondering if any of you have any advice as to questions I should be asking the surgeon next week.

Thanks so much. Brenners x

Hi Brenners. I hope your surgery went well. I was wondering what your experience has been so far. I am hoping to move to Ireland in the next 1-2 years, a move that was put off because I was having this surgery. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to get fills done in Ireland, at least not for free, as I do here. I was wondering if you have any info in that regard. Hope all is well in the emerald isle........

Hi Kero,

There is only one clinic doing gastric lap bands here in Ireland, you will be able to get fills but they charge 200 Euro per fill for people who have been banded elsewhere. Hope that helps.:)

hi Alesha

I know how you feel - I am getting my band the same day in Owenstown Clinic! I don't know which is worse - the nerves over the operation or the thought of them sending me home bandless because the moon is in Jupiter or something. And I am trying not to smoke before the general anaesthetic which only leaves one other crutch - food. Anyway - hope to meet you there, Alesha. I will have blue stripy pyjamas and neglected highlights. I have to check in at twelve.

I have been reading posts from bandsters in other places who advocate liquid only diets a fortnight before the op. Anyone from ACS gang told to diet before the op?

Hi Kermit and Alesha, the only instructions given to me by Jerome was, no alcohol for 48hrs before the op and to fast from midnight before, my check in time was 7.00am.

I wish you both the best of luck and let us know how you get on.

Oh holy crap kermit, ive only 13hours to go for check in, you have 15. Im so nervous. I will be the one in pink pj bottoms and a stripey top. I smoke too so if possible we can go for smokes together. I dont smoke that much but if theres nothing else to to like eat i will be puffing away!!!!!!

I know what you mean about going home bandless. I went to get my wisdoms out a few years ago and i was all looking forward, in a weird way, to being knocked out. I was so upset when they told me they couldnt put me under coz i was overweight. I think thats in my mind now for tomorrow. they said it was something to do with their protocol, they hadnt got the resources if anything went wrong, and i was in the at risk category...... Blah Blah

Anywho I will keep an eye out for the frog in blue stripy pyjamas and neglected highlights!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, i wasnt told either to go on a diet or anything like that before the op, just the usual fast at midnight and be there at 9am.

hi guys

Thanks a million for the encouragement Coco!

Great to meet you and the others, Alesha. I can't believe how quickly it was done.....found the after effects of the general anaesthetic a bit of a trip but I feel lucky to be pretty pain free. The staff were fantastic and the other patients were lovely too. There was a great feeling of joviality around the place this morning. It was really cool to meet a lady who was being re-banded - 4 stone lighter! Hope I can have successful results and look that great in the months to come.

Dini, Allure and Coco - Hope your bandster meeting went well!

Hi Kermit,

Welcome to the banded side. Great to hear you're doing so well. You will have success, but it won't be overnight, we all wish for that but it doesn't happen.:)

It was lovely to meet up with some of the other bandsters, and for anyone who hasn't been to one of our 'meetings' we talk about everything and anything not just band related stuff. It is nice though to be relaxed and talk to people who have been through the same thing particularly as in our every day lives this band can be a huge secret. So roll on the next one and thanks Dini for organising it. In the meantime this site is great to keep in touch and get support. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well. I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening. So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this?? Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
