I have to agree with some of the others, please feel that you can share with at lest 1 person. I understand feeling that you don't want everyone to know your business; but incase of medical emergency, you should have a back up person, especially in a far off area. Best wishes, Karen..aka..kll724

I don't think there is a right or wrong way to go thru lb surgery. I want to share the good news with everyone..I wish someone would have told me about the success they had with this surgery. I hope, by sharing the good news, I am able to help someone else, maybe even save some lives. Well that's just me and no matter which road we choose..we all have hundreds of supporters thru Bariactric Pal. Good luck to all. I am cheering for your success.

I told my job I was having an outpatient procedure but am a very private person about my health and would prefer to tell my unit I was going on vacation, Because of HIPPA my supervisor couldn't ask me and I didn't share, No one even questioned me when I returned this week to work. I told my husband, parents and brother and NONE of them were supportive of the surgery. They didn't think I needed it. Ummm 240 pounds and climbing and plenty of failed attempts I'd say I needed it. I told a close friend who is supportive and thank God for her,

I don't know your age, but as a 70 year old, I can tell you, that you extra weight does have health consequences. My back, hips, and knees all need replacements or surgery. I'm one of the lucky ones as my genetics are good and so I don't have blood pressure, cholesterol, or diabetes. So you will save yourself by doing lb now instead of later. I was in the same boat as you, no one thought I needed surgery. I almost missed the opportunity to help myself. Wishing you all the best and I think you are making a wise decision. Let me know how you are doing. I will be banded the 27th of Jan. I am so excited and looking forward to a healthier body and life style.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
