So as you all know I was denied by my insurance. So I had to do an appeal. I sent in a lot of medical records a letter from my PCP and a letter I wrote. I sent all that in on Dec 30. They received it on the 31st. They told me it will be 30 days before they made a decision. So I checked about a hour ago and they reversed the denial and approved it. I AM TOO HAPPY. I TRUELY THANK GOD BECAUSE WITHOUT HIM, IT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE!!!!

I love hearing stories like this. Congrats.

Nice Job... congrats!

Why did they deny you in the first place? What made them reverse the denial?

I was denied by BCBS of Alabama this past December, and my surgeon is going to appeal the decision this week through a peer to peer review. I'm hoping that it goes through this time since I was able to send in some additional information from my doctor. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I was denied by BCBS of Alabama this past December, and my surgeon is going to appeal the decision this week through a peer to peer review. I'm hoping that it goes through this time since I was able to send in some additional information from my doctor. Keeping my fingers crossed!

They denied me because 1.During the 6 month weight management I gained weight and 2.They said it wasn't a medical necessity.

I have arthritis, degenerative disc, bulging disc and lumbago in my lower back. So I went to my pcp and told her I was denied. So she gave me a copy of my mri and all my records and she also wrote a letter. Then I had been to another dr and I got my records from them as well. Then I went to my ob/gyn and got my records. I also have PCOS and weight gain is associated with that. And with my back im not able to exercise or anything. I havent worked since August. So with all that and God, they reversed the denial and approved it.

Rena's Ragdolls why were u denied?

I was denied because I hadn't had a BMI of 40 or above in the past 3 years, and I didn't have the required co-morbidities for the past 3 years. I do have co-morbidities, just not the ones that they recognize. I have high cholesterol, GERD, borderline diabetes taking Metformin to prevent getting full blown diabetes, knee problems and moderate sleep apnea.

I found medical records showing my high cholesterol for longer than 3 years, and I have a strong family history of diabetes, so I'm hoping that will be enough. I also found where I weighed in with a 39.1 BMI back in 2011, so that may help.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
