My sleeve Day 1

So I just had surgery to remove my ten yr old broken lap band and do a revision to a sleeve. Had my surgery at Laredo medical center with Dr Michael Morris. Love him!!! Hated the hospital. Had a hernia fixed and gallbladder removed at the same time. Doc said surgery lasted three hours because I had a ton of scar tissue he had to dig out :( I can sure feel it too. My weight just before surgery was 222 lbs and I'm 5'1" I had BCBS of Tennessee and they required I lose ten percent which I did but it took nine months to do so.

So day one Dec 31st. It's 24 hours past my surgery. They took me down to check for a leak this morning. All clear! They told me I can start on Clear liquids for today and tomorrow and maybe a Protein shake. Sooo here I sit staring at my broth and Jello.... I've been taking the tiniest of bites but it kinda gurgles going down and I can tell I don't want another bite. How am I supposed to get anything in? I think I've had an oz maybe over the last couple of hours. Is this normal?

I'm not in absolute horrible pain now although I did have it rough yesterday. I'm not nauseated anymore but my abdomen is sooooo tight and filled with air. They say to keep walking and it'll go away, I sure hope they are right. My shoulder hurts too. Kinda weird. Ok so off to walk a bit and see if I feel a little better.

Thank you, does Walmart sell it?

Weird about the taste.... My surgeon said that the first 9 months are when the weight comes off the fastest, maybe that's when taste buds figure it out :)

yep the bags used to be bigger but u might wanna try it before the surgery andd then after and see if u notice a difference. U can add as much water as u want to make it thicker or thinner and some good unflavored protein mixed in. I've only had the cheddar potato and broccoli and cheese so idk about the other flavors they have.

I saw doctor yesterday for 1st follow up after surgery. It was an awesome day!!!

18 lbs lighter 8 days after surgery!! Boy, is that a motivator!!!!!

oh cool u got the starter kit. So tell me about the other flavors like the strawberry and vanilla. I haven't tried those but I really wanna try the protein cheese sauce too :) u won't need much in the hospital lol

I can't wait until the day I can have yogurt again! Maybe next week!

It was an awesome feeling!!!

Have to say that I have encountered very little problems, just very frustrated with protein drinks and that I cannot have anything else. I'm waiting on phase 2 so I can start the purée foods, if anyone may please share some good purée recipes, I would greatly appreciate it.

How do I get a ticker?? HELP :)

Honestly, I haven't tried them yet, waiting for Monday when I start my liquid diet :)

Who can tell me wen u have done all ur testing. What is the next process and how long does it take. Is it the doc who determines wat date u get sleeved or does he work with ur availability if u have to inform ur job? Can someone guide me thru the next step.

I think it's different for different people. I went thru a bariatric center and the final thing I do is meet back up with my surgeon and talk about any final questions I have, etc. I start a 2 week preop diet the next day and then my surgery. They were offering to have my surgery this month but it wasn't good for me so we scheduled it for feb 18.

Ok so we can tell them wen its convenient. I can get accommodation at work but that doesn't secure ur job like having FMLA.

Mine worked with me like a champ.
