Just curious if any one here has used Dr. Spiegal in the Houston. Tx area? My wife and I are considering using him. Any good or bad replys would be nice.

Thanks

There are at least two threads about him. Do a search and find them. You will get lots of information.

I used Dr. Spiegel. I believe he is the best surgeon. However, his aftercare is not good, his office staff is not good, and his support are not good. There are other doctors in town that have a better reputation. It just depends on what you are looking for.

Aftercare is a big part of this procedure. You must rely on your doctor for fills. Dr. Spiegel just changed his process and I, for one, don't like the new rules. I don't want to go to his office and be treated like one of the herd.

Good luck to you and your wife

Dr. Collier did my surgery. I think he is wonderful. His staff are great, and his post-op care is great. He requires that you have an office visit every month (with or without a fill) and he really listens to you. He also likes you to meet with a nutritionist and he hooks you up with support groups. Several of my family members have also had this surgery with Dr. Collier and they all feel the same.

Hope it helps,

Ginger

Dr Speigel has good stats in terms of surgical successes and i respect him however, it was MANY of his patient posts on various websites that pursuaded me to keep looking, and i found Dr St Laurent who once was in the same practice as Speigel but now is not.

I love my surgeon and hes exceptionally patient oriented. He listens intently, answers his own email, has a nutritionalist working in his practice and his staff are exceptionally knowledgable and friendly. A lot of them are banded themselves.

When i researched him, he had performed over 1500 of these.

his website is:

to find out more. His office is in North Houston. I like him so much that i fly down from Maine to get my fills and for checkups.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
