February Surgeries

Recommended Posts

Hey ncbabygurl, I'm on my 4 the day. It's been really tough and I even cheated. I feel really lousy but I've got to keep on going. I didn't cheat really bad, just a cupcake, ok that's bad... Lol

But heads up! We got this.

OMG... I knew the pre-op diet was going to be tough but I am only on day 6 of 30 and it seems like forever. I can honestly say I am hungry. My sense of smell has gone hog wild. I was walking the mall this morning and I could smell the pretzel shop food and they weren't even open. I don't even want to eat crap. I would settle for a dried out chicken breast at this point. 3 shakes and a Protein Bar is not much. I know I can do this but I just needed to vent a bit. It is a means to an end and if it can make my surgery safer and my recovery easier I can and will do this thing. It can only make me stronger, right?

Thanks for listening to my whining.

The preop diet has been one big fail for me. However, after my information session today I feel better equipped and inspired to make it happen for myself.

I am ready to go! The 3rd is gonna be here before you know it!

Oh wow! Is it a liquid diet or just a regular diet? I'm just wondering all the differences between our doctors diets.

Hi,

I think I am so lucky really with my pre op diet. I really don't like milk so I am glad that I don't have to do that, which was the other option I had. That was 1 salty drink , 40 fl ozs of Fluid plus 80 fl ozs of milk. I am on 3 pieces of fruit a day, 10 fl ozs semi skimmed milk, a diet yoghurt and any amount of vegetables and restricted amounts of meat, fish or eggs each day.

So Breakfast is a 2 egg mushroom and Tomato omelette .

lunch is chicken or beef Soup made with 3 ozs meat, stock and vegetables and a diet yoghurt

Supper is 6ozs fish( or could be meat) with vegetables and one piece of fruit

banana milkshake made with second fruit and the milk plus one other fruit as Snacks.< /p>

So I am not hungry at all, it is just way less fruit, and variety and quantity than my day to day Slimming World eating plan. Obviously if we were going out or seeing friends I would have eaten different things but still following those principles. I have to do it for 3 weeks rather than 2 weeks for the milk diet and now my op date has moved forward by a day but I think I will be ok. I am missing all my normal foods and it is having a real impact on going out etc but i am not going through what so many of you are going through on your pre op diets. I wonder why they vary so much.

Just keep hanging on in there, it must be so hard. You will get there I am sure

Claire

My diet is 10 days long which I start in a couple days and am completely nervous about! I have to drink 3 Protein Shakes a day and 1-2 cup of vegetables or fruit and an optional Protein bar.

It seems like a lot compared to some of these pre op diets! I feel for you guys who have to do it for weeks or more.

Good luck everyone. We are getting so close! February is right around the corner!

My class went really well yesterday. I had a pre-admission appointment as well. They did blood work and an EKG. I also received a bottle of soap to wash my abdomen the night before and the morning of surgery.

The class I wish I had taken earlier. It was very informative and gastric bypass specific. I finally learned what my DR expected as far as straws, caffeine, alcohol, etc.

I am not going to lie. I am a little nervous about not being able to drink alcohol for a year.

PrincessErin, you can order virgin drinks that look and taste as good as having alcohol. If you are a beer drinker unfortunately carbonation is bad too. Having one normal drink will make you legally drunk so maybe that is a good thing for some people. My big issue is my diet caffeine free Pepsi, I will truly be mourning that!!!!

I do love beer but I can live without it. I drink a lot of rum. I don't know how that's gonna work afterwards.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
