Apps – Myfitnesspal Verses Live Strong Or Other Options

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting to start to keep track of everything-food, exercise, weight, everything… There are two main applications that I'm aware of – one is called MyFitnessPal and the end there is live Strong… From what I could tell, both have pretty much The same features but, I thought I would see if anyone has tried either application and greater detail and had suggestions or thoughts on one over the other. Any information would be appreciated... The only thing that I'm finding about MyFitnessPal so far that I don't like is that I can't go backwards and enter and weights or measurements or anything like that so that's a bit perturbing. I know there are more apps out there too – I and trying to keep it budget friendly but I'm okay with a couple of dollars if it's worth it. I'd appreciate any buddies information or feedback. thanks a bunch, and blessings

I use 'Lose it'. It tracks Protein. You can scan in the bar code of your food and keep it in the food list to be used again. You can also modify previous days entries snd create your own food totals for dishes you make yourself. The only thing I've found that many programs have is that if you put in your exercise, the program will add additional calories to your total daily calories so you can end up eating more. That might not be clear so here's an example. On Lose it, I adjusted my daily calories to be 1088. If I exercise before eating Breakfast and have burned up 200 calories and log this into the program, then the program says I can eat 1288 calories. I think my fitness pal does this too. I solved the issue by noting exercise on my calendar and using 'lose it' to track my protein grams, carb grams and calories.

I've been using MFP for over a year now and love it. Most of the apps do pretty much the same thing as far as information goes. The big advantage of MFP is their food database. I don't know but suspect that it is likely the largest database out there. That translates into being able to make quick (and reasonably accurate) into your log 98% of the time. But, I never tracked measurements other than my waist and since I've been in maintenance mode for over a year, not much is changing. I can see where being able to see your historical progression measurement wise would be an advantage. One thing you might want to check is their website. Your entries are automatically uploaded to their website. There are things (reports for example) on the website that you can do that you can't do from the mobile app. You might find that the info you want would be available there even though not available from the app.

Regardless of the app you choose, food logs are an amazingly powerful tool and the longer you use them the better they get. You're gonna love the new you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
