Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I am 8 days out... Lost 15 pounds. I still have horrible gas pains and I cannot sleep. I only sleep for three hours a night. I was just told I could eat soft foods today. It's still taking me time to drink a 14oz Protein Drink. Also, I was told I am in ketosis horrible breath. Today at the doctor they gave me this website to help me create meals. http://www.bariatriceating.com

Thanks for the site suggestion. I'm sorry to hear you still have gas pains. Those are the worst! I also have the awful breath and notice the smell of everyone else's breath. Gross!

Can I ask a question about poop? I'm 2 weeks out today and in general feel really well, went back to work two days ago and have started on soft foods but I am having one problem. Gas and poop. Lots of gas in my intestines and my poop is gross. Like really, really gross. I'm sorry to be so personal but is this normal? It stinks horribly and is like sludge. I mean it sticks to the toilet like glue. I am so skeeved! Can someone please tell me this is normal and will get better? It has been like this before I started on foods so I know that isn't the trigger :(

Lol I am 9 days out and noticing th same thing :) I'm still on liquids tho for another week. Haven't even added food yet!

Hi everyone! Checking in 15 days post-op and doing great. Going on soft food made a huge difference. It's much more clear when you should stop eating than with all liquid. You get that pain ( kind of like heartburn) in middle of your chest; that's the signal your done. Still get the burping thing; find drinking smaller sips slower helps. 15 down since surgery; 22 down since 1st weigh in with clinic. Started going to the gym Monday; did elliptical machine. Folks that know me commented on weight loss; already. Really starting to feel so glad I did this!!

Had my post op appointment and class today everything is going well! Dr wants me to try to get 90 grams of Protein in which seems hard! For the past 2-3 days I have gotten 60 grams and that's it plus my 48oz of Water. I have noticed I can drink a little more at a time now with both but I am really wondering how to get another shake in. I am on puréed Soups and only can do like one 3 oz soup... The dr also is keeping me off of work one more week to work on my liquids so I am not dehydrated and also the fact that I work with young children that can be unpredictable I guess didn't want them hurting my incision sites and all ...

How is everyone doing with their protein ? How much do you get in ? I just don't know if it's me or something typical for us in the beginning. I am 9 days out

I'm 9 days out and am barely getting any Protein. It makes me feel like I'm gonna barf if I try and mix it in anything. The shakes gag me.

Yeah. I'm getting water. Today I drank 2 ounces every 5 minutes to make sure I don't get dehydrated. Plain water makes me literally nauseated. I have to mix it with something. It's so weird, you hear about other people's experiences and think you're prepared, and maybe most people are, but I wasn't. I wasn't prepared for the extreme amount of pain I'd wake up in, nor was I prepared for how nauseated I'd be. All of the things that were ok before surgery make me gag now. This is definitely a learning experience and if anyone dares tell me I took the easy way out I'll knock em flat on their ass.

14 days post op...got home from my second hospital stay two days ago. I have a picc line in my arm which is incorrectly placed and causing me chest pain..Also one line is clogged or kinked and cannot be flushed. All of my food I'm getting through 24 hour intravenous infusions. Filled with regret and really depressed.

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time! It will get better , I thought I was having a rough time but it's slowly improving. It will for you too and then you will remember why we did this :)

Two days post-op! I will add a must have item for home post-op if you are a side or stomach sleeper... Body Pillow! It felt so good to lay on my side with the pillow supporting my lap sites! It is true that the pain gets worse 2 days post-op. I'm now on liquid Tylenol #3 which is controlling the pain pretty well. I'm having a little trouble getting liquids in because my pouch is still swollen. I just keep sipping slowly. I know it will get better! Still no regrets!

Anybody else get really bad cramps right after you take a drink of something? It's making it really hard for me to get close to my liquid requirements :-/

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
