My Top Ten musings about my first full month sleeved

Recommended Posts

My Top Ten list for my first month sleeved:

#10): The difference between weeks 3 and 4 are incredible. Week 3 still had some gas and incisional "pinches and twitches". At 4 weeks - almost nothing.

#9): Glad I waited 4 weeks to go back to work since they frown on nap-time. I really enjoyed my 3 pm snoozes.

#8): Eating is minimally interesting. Seriously- I can take it or leave it. My Fitness Pal keeps me honest.

#7): I am starting to understand "eat to live, not live to eat". Without the sleeve, that saying just pissed me off because I didn't get it; especially if I was hungry!

#6): Single serving envelopes of unjury fit great even in the smallest of purses so I have no excuse to ever skip a meal , or Protein drink. strawberry Sorbet mixes well with Water or diet lemonade and is actually quite good.

#5): I kind of feel like my face is melting. I need a really good wrinkle cream . Any suggestions?

#4): All my intentions of going to the gym does not equal going to the gym."It's the thought that counts" definitely does not apply.

#3): Chopped up meat or poultry can be added to almost any Soup and it doesn't look like pathetic baby food, and counts as Protein, fluids and veggies.

#2): Birthdays do not need to involve cake, restaurants or cocktails. Hubby had a tough time with this one, so we went to Atlantic City and stayed at the Revel Resort instead. Nice compromise, Ka-ching! I won $240.

Love this! Congratulations.

as to wrinkle creams, not that I'm patient enough to use anything but clinically speaking, the only things that work are retinols, salicylic acid, hyalanuric acid and some EFAs. So you could spend a lot and feel pampered (nothing wrong with that!) , or you could buy Neutrogena's salicylic acid preps and use them religiously and just be patient.

Janet... You give me hope! My surgery date is Dec. 9th (so I've got six weeks to go)!! I am so nervous about the pain associated with the surgery... on the day of and the days following! Your post was so positive and exciting and it doesn't sound like you experienced much in the way of pain!

How was it for everyone? Did you have pain and do you have a low or high threshold for it?

Congrats again Janet... Continued blessings and success!!!

I have a very low threshold for pain and I can honestly say that my pain has been very minimal thus far. I was sleeved on Monday. I haven't had ANY pain from incisions and the only pain I really feel is the gas pain. But, it's not awful. I have to admit that today isn't a very good day. I just feel really tired and weak. But, I think that is to be expected. So, anyway, good luck with your surgery and hopefully you will have a good experience as well.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
