Anyone else having second thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Hi there. I'm scheduled for December to have my band removed and a revision to the sleeve. Most days I'm 100% sure this is the right choice. But some days I'm not so sure. I guess I'm mostly scared of the recovery. I've had so many issues with the band as well, and I'm afraid of having complications with the sleeve. Please tell me others are going through this as well. Are there any post ops that had these feelings?

The only seconds thoughts I am having is that I should have went to Mexico, instead of jumping thew all of the hoops that my insurance company requires. I made peace with my decision for WLS before starting this process. But I am really getting stressed out about the whole insurance process. I am happy for you that you have completed the insurance fiasco.

Yeah, I went through second thoughts big time week before... its scary!! But after it was done and over with I realize, my stomach was stretched out to be oversized and no way was I going to loose wt with all that going on.... You will sometimes after doubt yourself and decision, but once its all smooth going, you will be glad you did it because you will start to feel normal again, not normal like before surgery, normal like you were a kid, could still be active, didn't obsess about wt, food etc etc.

Its normal to have them, and you will up to they day... but remember, its the food talking, its the dependence of food, its the comfort food can bring.

I was so stressed about the insurance, I forgot to be stressed about surgery up to date they gave for surgery! This too will pass :)

Thanks gals. I went through insurance hoops with the band, but immediately was approved for the revision due to complications. I'm so glad I found this site. All your insight and knowing I'm not alone makes things easier. :)

My surgery is dec 9.. I changed my mind several times within the last few months. I think it was my daughter who is a PA was not buying in for me to have the surgery. I wanted support foo my two daughters and husband. She sees patients who gave gad this procedure and some r successful..some gained some weight back. She is now on board at that solidified my choice to gave the surgery. I gave not looked back since. You will get there. Talk to your support system about this issue.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
