3 Months and 65lbs

Well it's been three months since my surgery. I am 6'3" and started out at 320 lbs. As of this morning, I weigh 255 lbs. I am at my lowest weight in 20 years. I'm a private person and the thought of posting pictures embarrasses the hell out of me. But there were so many people here that I watched and read about for months before deciding to start this journey. One of the things I that helped my decision was looking at before and after pictures. So in an effort to hopefully pay it forward, increase my karma points, and help someone else....

Here are before, 6 week, and 12 week pics

You never know. Just stick to the plan and you will do great. Sleevezilla will let you know when you are screwing up. I made a chocolate salted caramel cake for my daughters birthday last month. I thought a few bites won't hurt .... about 20 minutes later I thought i was re-enacting the scene from Aliens. Sugar is evil.

Yeah I had the sleeve, its not dumping like the bypass folks experience. I think its more of a normal reaction when your body gets used to a diet that is low in carbs with almost no refined sugar then you give it a big shot of refined sugar and flour and it doesn't want it. I'm sure I could get used to it again but I don't want to. Sugar is like heroin to me, I'm better off cold turkey (mmmm turkey)

Awesome! Congrats!!

You, friend, are my hero. We have almost exactly the same stats except I have 20lbs on your starting weight. Its great getting before and afters from someone with my stats.

If you were anything like me, with all that height, you kind of ignore the weight until its too late

Bluto - How is it now eating/drinking? In 3 months do you feel normal? Are all the issues drinking liquid gone and are you able to eat most foods or do you still you struggle?

I am pretty nervous about having my operation on Friday. I can not imagine a world where it is difficult to drink Water.

Those of us on the other side know exactly what you are feeling, we've all been there. The first thing I said when I woke up from surgery was "Well, I really f*cked up this time didn't I?" The week before is a stressful week. Just know that you are doing something that is going to improve your health dramatically. The difficulty in drinking is really the first couple of weeks when your stomach is swollen and healing. I can gulp water now and hydration is not an issue.

Eating is different than before and I hope it always will be. I have been able to eat almost anything, but I really try to keep it to lean Proteins and veggies. I still have a premier Protein chocolate shake for Breakfast everyday and will probably do that forever. I can have a bite of bread, Pasta, or rice but it's crap food and just a few bites will make you uncomfortable... so screw bread. The only awkward thing is going out to eat with the guys. They get monster burgers, fries, and beer .... I get a cup of chili and it takes me 20 mins to eat it. Sometimes I get a little nostalgic and wish I could eat the triple coronary bacon burger delight but that feeling goes away when you catch the waitress looking you over.
