So What Do I Order @ A Bar?
I used to love beer and I have a job that requires entertaining which means bars and alcohol. I was really concerned about this pre-surgery but what I found out was that nobody really cares what anyone else is doing. We think that everyone is watching us eat / drink but not many people pay attention. They are much more concerned with the plate / drink in front of them. I have gotten Water and someone might say "just water" and I say "yeah not in the mood to drink tonight" and that's the end of it. juice (orange pineapple cranberry) on the rocks is a good option. Note to guys: Don't order juice if your buddies are within earshot, that will catch you more hell than ordering water. But back to your original question, Carbonation doesn't agree with me anymore so no beer or soda mix drinks. I'll order a Fireball on rocks or a Black Russian and a water. Drink the water, sip the drink and make it last. I've also found out the hard way that when you are 80# lighter you get hammmmmmmmered quick. Be careful, give your stomach a few months to heal and read about cross addiction before you start drinking again. Aside from that Cheers!

Stall :(. Can Others Share Their Stories.
It's a very common thing. Like Heather said, your body is just adjusting. I am at almost 5 months and had a stall at 3 weeks (like many people) and just came off another stall. This latest one lasted two weeks then this week I dropped 5 pounds so be patient it's a marathon not a sprint. Here's a great explanation of the stall (stolen from Butterthebean's signature :-) ) http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html#.UpXqTcRDvTc

3 Months and 65lbs
Those of us on the other side know exactly what you are feeling, we've all been there. The first thing I said when I woke up from surgery was "Well, I really f*cked up this time didn't I?" The week before is a stressful week. Just know that you are doing something that is going to improve your health dramatically. The difficulty in drinking is really the first couple of weeks when your stomach is swollen and healing. I can gulp water now and hydration is not an issue. Eating is different than before and I hope it always will be. I have been able to eat almost anything, but I really try to keep it to lean Proteins and veggies. I still have a premier Protein chocolate shake for Breakfast everyday and will probably do that forever. I can have a bite of bread, Pasta, or rice but it's crap food and just a few bites will make you uncomfortable... so screw bread. The only awkward thing is going out to eat with the guys. They get monster burgers, fries, and beer .... I get a cup of chili and it takes me 20 mins to eat it. Sometimes I get a little nostalgic and wish I could eat the triple coronary bacon burger delight but that feeling goes away when you catch the waitress looking you over.

You never know. Just stick to the plan and you will do great. Sleevezilla will let you know when you are screwing up. I made a chocolate salted caramel cake for my daughters birthday last month. I thought a few bites won't hurt .... about 20 minutes later I thought i was re-enacting the scene from Aliens. Sugar is evil.- Yeah pureed food finally!
After being on liquids for what seemed to be forever, having that first bite of refried beans with some melted cheese was amazing. I think we all remember that day fondly. :-)- 3 Months and 65lbs
Thanks! I'm doing my best to get to the gym at least 3 times a week. On the other days I usually get at least a walk in. I've also been trying to do push ups and crunches in the morning and before bed. That being said I don't always find the time and I should be doing more.- 3 Months and 65lbs
You Too!!! You are just about spitting distance to your goal! Congratulations- Full Liquid ideas besides gagging shakes
I lived on SF Popsicles and unjury Fudgesicles for the couple of weeks. I still eat them on a pretty regular basis Unjury Fudgesicles Jell-O sugar free Instant pudding (Not Cooked), 4-serving package 2 cups of cold skim milk 2 Scoops or Packets of Unflavored UNJURY Directions: Use Jell-O Sugar Free Instant Pudding (Not Cooked), 4-serving package Measure 2 cups of cold skim milk following package directions. Add two scoops of Unflavored UNJURY to the two cups of cold milk. Thoroughly mix the UNJURY powder with the milk by shaking or stirring. Put the Jell-O Sugar Free Instant (Not Cooked) Dry Pudding Mix into a bowl. Add the UNJURY and milk mixture to the dry pudding mix. Stir for 2 minutes. Pour into 6 small paper cups (3 oz pudding per cup). Place popsicle stick in center of each cup. Put cups in freezer for 4 hours. Once popsicles have frozen, peel away the paper cup and enjoy! Nutrition Facts per 3 oz popsicle (makes 6): 10 grams Protein 9 grams carbohydrate 4 grams sugar 77 calories- 3 Months and 65lbs
Well it's been three months since my surgery. I am 6'3" and started out at 320 lbs. As of this morning, I weigh 255 lbs. I am at my lowest weight in 20 years. I'm a private person and the thought of posting pictures embarrasses the hell out of me. But there were so many people here that I watched and read about for months before deciding to start this journey. One of the things I that helped my decision was looking at before and after pictures. So in an effort to hopefully pay it forward, increase my karma points, and help someone else.... Here are before, 6 week, and 12 week pics- questions for August ppl
Fast loser, slow loser ... I guess I just never understood why it matters. It's like a marathon ...there are some people that can get it done in 2.5 hrs, most take 4.5, but they still cheer when somebody walks across the finish at 6 hrs. Just keep running, when you can't run anymore walk ... just finish.- Leave My Food ALONE!
To stop the food thieving teenagers in my house. I used a sharpie and wrote "Gen 2:17" on the things they shouldn't eat. "For on the day that you eat from it you will surely die" - Gen 2:17 Fear the wrath of Dad!- questions for August ppl
Does it matter? You are 43 pounds down in two months, rejoice in that. Congratulations!- What Was Your Starting Weight?
Another 6'3" guy ... Heaviest was 330, Surgery at 320, I'm 12 weeks out and I'm at 260.- 4 days preop and still cant drink without spitting back up
Sugar Free Popsicles are really good as well. Each is equivalent to 4oz of liquid and only 15 calories- Muscle milk light
I'm drinking a costco Premier Protein chocolate shake right not ..... Yum. I agree with Bethzy, the vanilla is ok but no where near as good as the chocolate. To make the vanilla better add: a little coffee tastes like an iced latte rootbeer flavoring tastes like a rootbeer float PB2 powder makes it peanutbutter- Protein Shakes?
I really enjoy the Premier Protein chocolate Flavor (I get it at costco), it's pretty decent for ready to drink. I'm not a big fan of their vanilla flavor, I can drink it, but I don't enjoy it.- post op sex different?
I think you are on the money with talking to the urologist and make sure you are getting more than enough fluids. Post op sex for most of us is much better. I can say that dropping #50 has increased my stamina and taking things to .. um ... new lengths. I've not noticed any difference in the actual pops.- New to these parts but looking forward to being involved
Welcome Jesse! Congratulations on a great decision. Similar thoughts as bigdirk: I didn't like the foreign object of lapband and bypass / malabsorption seemed too extreme and went with the sleeve. I was also selfpay and went to Mx. I had a few people that were concerned with my decision to go to Mx but their fears were unfounded. There are several surgeons there that are amazing and have more experience with the sleeve. Do your research and make the best decision for you. As far as Arts comment ... Go Hokies!- Sex after 9th day of surgery!
In order to calculate the calories, you are going to have to give us pretty specific details..... - 3 Months and 65lbs
