I was riding my motorcycle the other day and got off to go into the store and a woman walking by was smiling real big and asked "how does such a tiny lady handle such a big bike". I haven't been referred to as tiny since...well never. I was on cloud 9 for the rest of the day.

It is so South Florida lol! I love this forum because you can't really "brag" or "whine" to anyone else :) I am so very happy for all of you and all of your NSVs - you make my heart smile!

Debbie - you look great & so healthy!

Go Walking - you are an inspiration to me and help us all remember all the little things we are missing when it comes to our weight loss/journey!

Chasing a Dream - you aren't chasing your dream - you are living it - look at those numbers :)

Sandy & CG - you have changed your whole lives and with every single post I want to be just like you!

& CG - you keep me in check - I don't want to get smacked by your pink feathery whip (although some people might think that was a little kinky) LOL :)

My NSV today is this. For the second time in three days, I am moving my younger daughter's college stuff out of her 14th floor dorm and bringing a carload home. Although my joints are hurting from my arthritis, I have not been out of breath even once. This is amazing to me, because less than six months ago, I could not walk even half a block with empty arms without getting winded. Now less than nine weeks postop, I can do all of this with ease and feel so much healthier. The surgery has truly saved my life.

I'm so happy! I've ditched the seat belt extender and flew to Europe with belt inches to spare! I walked the airports without getting winded. This trip is gonna be amazing! Five more hours until I'm reunited with my daughter who hasn't seen me since way before pre-op. I was even able to eat on the six hour flight to Dublin. I made sure to chew really well and take my time. On to Italy now. I feel like a normal person for a change!

Last Sunday, 2 hrs from home, we had major car trouble and ended up dropping the car off at at a repair shop and unexpectaly staying overnight in a nice hotel. Grabbed a pkg of undies and some pajamas, both mediums from Walmart. Tried them on at the hotel, THEY FIT JUST FINE !!!!! Well, Happy Mothers Day to me !!!

I average about 30,000 air miles a year so six years without a seat extender is truly a blessing.

Going for that short hair cut I wanted next weekend trying a new stylist as well my normal hairdresser I think would try to talk me out of it . I have had the same hair do more or less for the last 8 years or so. I have changed so much I need a change as well so shorter and chunkier highlights or blonder here I come.

About cutting hair. 4 years ago I cut off over 1 foot of hair. I went on line and looked at Raquel Welch's wig site. Best wigs that look like real hair. I went short and spiky and I was around 58-59 at the time. I printed 2-4 pictures and my hair dresser and I chose would look best for me. Been like that since. Good luck. I am a natural red head and hair red, hi lites and low lites and love it. Time for a new cut and color next week.

Good luck. Be brave!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
