The Nioxin really has helped my hair start growing back in. It's not as thick as it was by any means and that stuff is expensive but it's working!

Year ago Nioxin saved me! I forgot about it, but now that you mention it, I'm going to get some. Thanks for the reminder! :D

For a whole year BEFORE surgery I was losing my hair and it had me so depressed. I've always love my full-volume, crazy, curly hair and I couldn't even accomplish my signature look which was that wild, untamed, but well kept look. Surprisingly, after surgery my hair has stopped falling out, and I have lots of "baby hairs" growing which makes me look funny sometimes. I will have to blame my Protein intake AND my daily Vitamins. I take them religiously. One piece of advice: try not to worry so much about it because that only perpetuates the issue. Instead, go and see your dermatologist. They will probably put you on a 6 month treatment which includes Biotin pills. Also, there are shots that the dermatologist can inject in your scalp to help with this issue. I've been using a sulfate-free Shampoo (expensive) but I have no idea if that's contributing to the re-growth. Best wishes!

my first PCP which was a internal med dr in Nashville suggested a dermatologist for this for me but never did go I thought really? Guess I should have gone, now I look like a bald woman. Injections huh? What kind? I do take Biotin 5000 a day, I do try and remember my chewable vits a day but they upset my stomach, all do, they all give me diarrhea no matter what kind of Vitamins they are. I do try and bump my Protein up as much as I can but after 16 months out still losing hair here. I know you've told me what shampoo before but could you tell me again please, sorry. thanks so much.

I am with Donna12 on this too.

18 months out of surgery and still have massive hair loss. I meet or exceed daily Protein and take Vitamins. ----> not working :(

I have NOT tried the Shampoo mentioned but I am going to get some ASAP.

Injections huh? What kind? I know you've told me what Shampoo before but could you tell me again please' date=' sorry. thanks so much. [/quote'] I'm not sure what kind of injections because it hasn't been 6 months for me yet. And even though my hair isn't falling out anymore, I will ask for the injections anyway when I go back and see her. Here is the picture of the shampoo I'm using. Again, I don't think the shampoo has any bearings on the improvement of my hair. I mainly use it because I had the Magic Sleek straightening done (during the time if was falling out) and I'm supposed to use a sulfate-free shampoo. I remember mentioning to you something else (not a shampoo) that is miraculous for falling hair. The small bottle costs 5 and you have 5 applications. I'm willing to send you one, free of charge, and if you like it, we can arrange something... I don't think you can easily find them. Message me if you're interested.

Hello Everyone! I am pre-op looks like my surgery date will be the first of November. My surgeon is going on vaca and they are unsure what day.

Just a few days ago, I found this website and have been reading everything because I am scared. Alot!! This is the first I have heard of hair loss because of the lapband. Is this the norm or a select few. i am already scared of having the surgery now I will lose my hair.. Maybe I should just try another diet. Sigh. Any advise would be great.

Its a temporary reaction for the most part. Your hair WILL grow back unless you're actually going bald, in which case the band would not be the culprit. hair thins out.... You don't get "bald" (they are two different things)

Take my experience, for example.... Since surgery, my hair has IMPROVED a LOT...!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
