I'm optimistic for you with your band over plication. Hopefully this will give you better restriction, but being in less need of fills you may have less problems than a lot bandsters experience.

Jenn also had the same procedure as you but is further out.

Thanks, I'm hopeful it will go well. Dr. Cottam also thinks there will be potentially less band slippage over plication because of the uniform size of the smaller stomach. Right now I'm in a phase where I want to yell, "Enough with the heartburn!" despite taking prescription Prilosec.

Oh dear. How much Prilosec are you taking? I know it's usually 20Mg once a day but I've heard of some people taking double that. Maybe your PCP will let you take more until it resolves. I know it's OTC but I prefer to run that kind of thing by a doc.

I take 40mg, although I think my reflux has lessened since the surgery and I am planning on trying 20mg when my prescription runs out. It takes care of my acid!

I dont know how everybody else used their surgury, but so far ive used mine as a TOOL. I didnt want anything missing in me, i just wanted a chance to control my life again....eating, exercise, work, ect... plication gave me that. it hasnt been 4 months yet for me, and imdoing great. im down 77lbs. since surgery and my wife is down 60. im eating better, less,... working harder , and more. Doc said my projected weight would be 193. i said 200. i know im going to make it. i went to mexico, and i would do it again!

They 'supposedly' do, but my doc was trying to push me towards the band on the day of my op given that I only just scraped in at a BMI of 30! angry.gif I think it's not that easy finding a reputable doctor to do it (I think Dr Aceves does it).

I liked the fact that Angeles Health covered any complication costs as I've heard tales of thousands of dollars of expense on different forums. Plus I spoke to a surgeon who only operated on BMI 35+ and he strongly recommended the plication. He's meant to be pretty senior in eastern Europe and given he wasn't going to get anything from me I trusted the advice.

I know most every doc probably has a 'horror story' out there, but I saw this thread on the VSGtalk board about a Dr. Aceves surgery, and I was floored. $1.5 million-oh crap!

Lena, maybe you should converse with this guy and see if he was able to get anything out of Dr. Aceves. Between this story and Lena's Dr. Ortiz story, I'm actually feeling very lucky that everything went so well with mine. Scary stuff!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
