OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Recommended Posts

If you read back on this group' date=' many people stall. I am only 4 days post surgery. Not even been on the scales yet but keep in mind your body is probably in shock. Give it time and stick with it.[/quote']

My first stall lasted for 2 weeks. Just broke thru yesterday. Measure yourself ( waist, hips, arms, legs, neck) it's usually during a stall you lose the most inches.

Ohhh wow... Thank you all!!! I feel a lot better now with your advices. I am going to start measuring myself because I do note some shrinking... Maybe use the scale once a week will be a good idea, but I have it in the bathroom and it is soooo tempting to stand on it every day... Thank you ladies... Besides the stall I am doing good. I had some Constipation issues solved with benefiber added to my Water. I am still having some pain on my side and not able to sleep in any on my sides yet... THIS GROUP SUPPORT IS GREAT, thanks!!!!

Hi everyone! I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly but I just had my bypass on 10/24/13 and I was just looking to see if I could use this forum as a means to get questions answered and see if I'm having similar experiences as others. I'm done 14 pounds so far and because tomorrow marks my seventh day after surgery I'm going to move from my all clear liquid diet to puréed foods so I'm very excited because I'm finally starting to not feel sick any time I see food and I'm now beginning to feel hunger. Is anyone else having issues with just really wanting normal food!? I just want the taste and consistency of a normal meal that's not clear liquid or puréed!

I am excite for real food too.....chewing!!!! :) My surgery date was 10/21

So I'm only 9 days out but everything hit me today. I'm already down 18 pounds and I feel amazing. I'm finally starting to feel like I have a future. I'm only 23 and I've not been looking at the future because I wasn't sure how much of one I had. The way I see everything changed today. Looking at my little boy made me tear up. He's getting so big and so smart and now he's going to get to grow up with a normal mommy. I even took him trick or treating before his daddy got off work and continued with them for an hour once he joined us! I just feel so full of life already!!! <3

down 16 pounds since surgery October 22, 2013!!!!

Hello ladies!! I'm sorry I didn't let u all know how my surgery went. It was 10/16. I feel great and haven't had any problems at all (knock on wood). Now I'm dealing with the emotional part of it all. I started puréed diet on Monday! And that's great!! But these two ounce meals aren't filling me up. I'm so hungry. And I'm bummed and depressed about that because I thought that was supposed to fill me up?? It's all I can do not to open the fridge and eat more!! I haven't cheated and I'm not going to, but I don't understand why I am so hungry :(. I have heard so many people say they have to force themselves to eat. Not me!!! I was that way a few days after surgery but then I got this stupid appetite back :(. It's been really tough :(. But I am lucky I haven't had any problems, no vomiting, no dumping. Just so hungry!!! Ugh :(

I feel the same way about the scale!! I'm two weeks out and have lost 25 pounds already but the past few days I have been going up and down. So I'm with ya. Let's just do scale once per week and I need to go buy measuring tape!! :). I haven't pooped since Sunday but I'm not uncomfortable yet. But I like the Benefiber ideas!! Love this group! Feel guilty cuz I hadn't been on in awhile and got behind!!! Lol

Don't feel bad, it is never too late to come back... I think that this is great, we can benefit from everyone's experiences , even if you think that is something not very important it could be for someone having that same issue... Keep it up and forget about scales for a week... Let's be happy and enjoy our new life! ;)

Hi all...I'm having a bit of emotional turmoil. Only down 22.5 not including the 6.5 I gained in the hospital. (Surg 10/2) I want it to go a bit faster. Bleh. But I am trying fork tender things. Some agree with my pouch...others don't. I was able to do 1/3 of a wendys small chili for lunch. Soooofreaking happy to have to chew my food!!! We are all losers now, so congratulations! Love to all.

Sorry for this being TMI, but how long have you gone between BMs? I've gained almost three pounds and haven't had a BM since....Sunday? I have 5g of Fiber in my Water 2x a day.

During my 2 week stall, I noticed that I wasn't having a BM as often, so I used Miralax a couple of times to move things along.

Slow and steady wins the race, right? At least that's what I tell myself daily. So far, 9.2 lbs since surgery lost.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
