Can I ask a question? I had my gastric bypass surgery on Valentine's Day and I'm still on clear liquids. I feel like something is stuck in my throat. I can't make it go away. Has anyone experienced this? What is it?

Call your surgeon even with what seems like small concerns this early out. They will be able to ask the right questions and give you the right advice far beyond what we can here. Please give their office a call and discuss with them.

Hello August post-ops!! Congrats to everyone!! Keep up the great job!!

I'm a November WLS. Seeking advise on what worked for you, did you get weak/fatigue and Hair loss, Any suggestions.

My progress:

WLS 11/14/13

SW 266

CW 233

GW 165

I'm averaging 2 lbs per week, no exercise due to knee injury/pain. Doctor is happy with my progress. I'm too, my battle is to have enough energy to function upon getting up to hey ready to drive to work and get through the day.

Issues I've been experiencing feeling tired, fatigue and exhausted. I eat all my water/ meals/proteins/vitamins and average 600 to 900 calories daily, try to eat more to get energy levels up, helps some days.

I'm 3 months as of Friday 2/14/14 and I've stated losing globs of hair especially after I Shampoo. So I'm washing every other day. I was expecting this may happen, but so emotionally distressing and nerve wrecking to see it come out so much so quickly. I'm totally freaked out. Praying it slows down soon.

Anyone else feeling exhausted and losing your hair?? When goes the hair loss stop?? Is it growing back??!

Hair: I started losing hair like you mention at about 2 months out. It was totally freaky and I still hate it. However, at 4.5 months it had slowed down significantly. I haven't really started growing it back in I think. My hair and nail growth has slowed down significantly.

Energy: I felt tired often the first few months. I just wasn't ready to be very active yet. However, try to keep moving. Just slow walks, 20-30 minutes is fine. And try to get plenty of rest and fluids. Eventually you will come out of it.

At 5 months I finally felt ready to start working out and I haven't looked back since I started. I seriously feel amazing at this point with the increased activity, and every week I am pushing myself a little farther and working to keep my diet in line. It is completely paying off in ways I didn't even imagine.

Keep on going. Get that 80+ grams of Protein in. Get that 60+ ounces of Water in. Do what you can for exercise, but don't beat yourself up.

Hey all August peeps~ I was sleeved August 6th, highest weight was 240, at start of pre-op I was 237, day of surgery I was 222 and fast forward to this week I am 160. Went from size 22 down to size 9-10. Feel great for most part. No regrets! Lv my sleeve. Do have few concerns, weighed myself last Thursday I was 155... Then again on Saturday & I was back up to 160 :/ how the hell did that happen? Also starting to loose a lot of hair . I also have these random dizzy spells, that make me feel close to passing out. Then I get shakes & bad headaches following the dizzy spells. This has been happening on & off for past few months. It's random but when it hits it floors me for few days. Anyone else that is six months out have any of these issues ? I had my six month labs done but don't know results yet, meet with surgeon for six month appointment next week. Anyone have labs done yet? Eating around 800-900 cal. Keep things low fat & low sugar high Protein . Sometimes feel depleted . But again I feel so much better then before surgery & would not change it for the world . Six month mark & I'm proud just have few concerns. Any thoughts ?

You're doing great!

Congrats!! I have been having kidney issues and finding myself returning to old habits. I am down 112 from my highest weight 85 since surgery.

I need to get myself healthy so I can start working out again. And get my head together because I don't want to waste this gift!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
