I'm having surgery on August 21st and I am starting to have anxiety attacks. I have wanted to do this for the past eight years. I am going from glee and excitement to fear and terror several times a day.

Someone please offer some words of comfort. Thanks.

Hang in there my surgery is in late October and I'm with you, my nerves are shot and I am very nervous. I even started researching other surgeons, I bet all these feelings are normal. Good luck it's gonna be okay.

May I recommend Belleruth Naperstack's meditations for successful surgery? I am a very nervous person and I did this meditation every night for a couple weeks before surgery and on the day of the operation I was freakishly calm! There is a guided meditation for the day of surgery and then there are healing affirmations for before and after.

It works, try it!

Just relax, I was so stressed out before my surgery I broke out in hives. It was terrifying.

Just try to focus on the end results you'll have. Relax in a nice warm bath, have a manicure, take a walk...anything to just release the stress. I had the same issue... happy then scared. I had to reassure myself of why i needed the surgery, how I had prepared for the surgery and that all would be ok.

I hope you find peace! Best of luck to you!

I think it's 98% excitement, 2% fear....or maybe the reverse. Who knows??? I sometimes just want to start my new life, then I think of everything I need to do to get ready. I'm just a bundle of emotions now.

I would suggest start writing a list of things you feel like need to get done before surgery. Then when you start over thinking things stop and think of a goal you want to reach when you slim down. All dreams and desires are attainable. Your will be amazed of what you can accomplish when you are healthy, confident, and enjoying your life.

I'm going to sanitize my apartment like a crazy person this weekend. That should keep me busy.

Shawna,

I am with you on the 21st. I go in at 5:30 AM (thats crazy there) I have over a hours drive to boot.

Let me tell you what scares me...tomorrow I have to drink magnesium citrate. I am betting the 10 OZ will seem like four gallons before the day is over.

There may be some emergency sanitizing going on around here. Just keep your mind on the prize at the end of the journey.

Things will be great and get better.

Good Luck Wednesday,

Shoot us an update later this week and let us know how you are doing.

Rick

I hope it isn't Moviprep. If it is, or if it has a smell/taste you can't stand here are tips.

Go to McDonalds or somewhere else and get a cup with a straw. This way you won't smell it while drinking it.

Chasers are your friend. Think like an alcoholic here. Take a 2 oz shot of the prep and chase it with 6-10 oz of whatever strong tasting liquid you can handle. You will run the risk of dehydration if you don't do chasers. Trust me, I did chasers and was still massively dehydrated.

Don't use toilet paper! You will literally rub yourself raw halfway through and then wonder why the gods hate you. Get flush able wipes.

Walk, don't sit. The more you move, the faster things will progress. Sitting around will make your bowels go slower and thus make the process last longer.

Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
