considering Dr. Benavides in Dallas

Recommended Posts

I would like to hear from anyone that used Dr. Benavides in Dallas, TX. I am going to see him next week and I have heard he is about the best. Does anyone agree or disagree?

I was banded by Dr. B on 2/14/07. His office staff is great, and he's very kind.

He was one of the pioneers of lapbanding surgery and has performed over 3000 surgeries to date. I think you've made a good choice :(

My dad and others I know have used him and believe he is great. He is performing my lap band surgery tomorrow March 1st. My dad had him do his surgery back in 2002 and only had some issues with slippage. But Dr. B found a way to keep that from occuring so easly and my Dad has not had any issues since.

I was in the waiting room yesterday and talking with several people that had Dr. B perform their surgery and all had nice things to say.

He is a safe bet.

:clap2:

I don't know anything about the dr you asked about but there is a dr in dallas that does the surgery for 12,500- everything included. Try looking at www.novabodysolutions.com. I came from Amarillo to see him, Dr. Davidson, and he seems to know his stuff.

i was impressed with dr. b's support after banding. his seminar left something to be desired. he did not offer the negatives to the band without proding him..i asked the questions he didnt want to hear..ie erosion, removal, slippage, port leakage. i ultimately did not choose him due to that and the fact that he provided out dated information regarding the rny. at my psych eval yesterday she used the word "slick" to describe him.

missy67,

who are you using? How much is he charging?

I am self pay and cost is a factor. I wouldnt choose someone just because their cheap, but I definitely have to consider cost.

I am very worried about erosion, leakage and slippage too. I probably wont choose Dr. B. either just on your report alone. there are too many other doctors out there with only great reviews.

When is your surgery?

Cheryl S.

I was also banded in Dallas. I paid $12,500 for Dr. Barker. You can go through Nova Body Solutions at Vista Hospital. Everyone was great. I am going back for my first fill on the 7th of March. Self pays get 4 fills included!!!

cheryl c- i was planning on using dr cribbins but found out today that uhc denied my surgery.. according to the ins company dr cribbins' didnt present enough documentation or prove that it is medically necessary for me to have it done.. so its either fight with uhc- because his office doesnt do appeals (sucks) or just find another doctor. almost everyone in my office has used dr barker and that's about 10 people so far. one is using dr jay..

i do not know how much dr cribbins cost- as it was to be done via ins. dont make a decision regarding Dr B on just what I said. His after care program is great- Dr C had none.. :)- so my chose wasnt that great.

Choose a dr that you are comfortable with and that will take the time to answer your questions, and you should have a lot of them for the dr you choose. hope this helps.

I have never heard anything Bad about Benevides. I love my doc (Louis Fox) and I love the Surgery Center of Richardson staff - but I have only ever heard good things about your doc.

Good Luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
