Any September surgeries out there

Recommended Posts

Yes they warned me about food fantasies though I never thought they would be this bad. I have wanted a crab cake or chicken broccoli thin crust pizza for the last 3 days. Now mentally I know I can't and when i finally can the crab has to be baked and I won't eat more then two bits of the pizza or crab but the fantasies are still there. I am not eating too much post OP or to fast but my problem has been my sips take a lot of air with them when I am drinking my fluids. I have done more ice chips and sf popsicles to avoid it but any other liquids air bubbles come and they are so uncomfortable.

Had my surgery Friday! Im now sitting up in the chair in my room, just finished a carnation instant breakfast... Waiting about an hour (maybe two) to be cleared to go home! Hopefully I'll be home before 1 oclock kickoffs!

Forgot the best part... I am going home minus the Metformin! No more diabetic medication! What a bonus!

Congrats! That is awesome!

Sounds like you and I are the same date. Good luck.

Thanks! Good luck to you too! I've been so excited this whole time, but now I'm starting to get nervous

Thank you. The surgery itself isn't bothering me, just hope I can follow the rules and not make problems for my self. All the doctors have confidence in me, it is just me that doesn't have the confidence. I know I can lose weight, just hope I can keep it off once I get there. I'm a 71 year old with a metabolism of a 90 year old and a mind of a 40 year old. Let me know how you do. Will be thinking of you.

Been on liquids for 5 days, had a weigh in this morning and all was good THEN. I caved and ate half a small cheeseburger. Surgery is Wed, will this really affect my surgery? Should I tell them??

I don't think one isolated occurance is going to change the size of your liver. Just be strict from here on out, you got this!

I gave in too. Three days before my surgery, I had a polish sausage from costco. I ate the entire thing but one bite. I was like you worried that the surgeon would know and cancel the surgery. However, I just stayed on track from that point on and my surgery was successful with no complications... Don't stress about it. It is over with now. Just stay on track until then. Good luck.

It won't be in your stomach bc you have a couple days still left and you have to do the bowel cleanse with mag citrate that will take it all out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
