QUESTION: Hi everyone...I am almost 3 weeks out from my surgery & am having an awful time trying to eat...I noticed that after about 2 spoonfuls (baby spoon being used) I'm burping (sign of fullness)...today I wasn't sure & tried to eat a little more & I got ill...as it stands I'm not even getting 1/4 c. I'm feeling like crap & do well to eat once a day...so the question is has anyone experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks I hope you have a great day!

You must eat three times a day, even if it's just a little. For no other reason this will establish good eating habits.I wasn't eating very much at your stage....maybe 6 Tbls at most.

I was the same way. And then suddenly, last week, it's like my tummy relaxed and I was able to eat more. Still not a lot, but enough to get my calories in without feeling like I was dying. So just give it time.

I'm about 2.5 weeks out and not only have I stalled, I actually gained back almost 2 lbs. have had a lot of stress and feeling awful about gaining. I have been getting in 60 gr of Protein a day. Haven't had trouble with any food. I am having 3 meals 1/4 c and 3 "snacks" a day. Seems like a lot more than everyone else. Usually 500-900 cals depending on what I choose. So frustrated. :-/

Hang in there! I was super slow the first 4 weeks, losing less than 10 lbs in the month.. I am starting to pick up now. Remember it is a marathon not a sprint.

Well today made my 5th week out and my experienced today, everything I ate or drank felt like it was stuck and a few minutes later I would spit up thick white mucus, therefore I phoned my surgeon office around 7pm and I received a return call, instructing me to go to the hospital's outpatient unit where I will receive lots of fluids, toradol for pain, and blood work, my nurse said I was experiencing stomach spasms, he said I will receive treatment for 3 to 4 hours for 4 days, until my stomach relaxes and after that I should be fine, God is my help...

I had surgery June 25, lost 20lbs the first two weeks, then nothing! I read somewhere on here that some people had similar issues and once they could eat more, like 100-200cals per day more, the weight started coming off. I am now trying to eat on a regar basis, every couple hours just so I can get in more than 850cals. I feel like I am force feeding myself. My nutritionist said that getting in 850cals is appropriate for my stage. But somehow, it just doesn't seem right. I'm not hungry either but I exercise every other day for 60mins. If anyone else has any input, I am all ears!!

Went out to eat with my brother. I am now shocked at how much food is served at restaurants. Of course I brought the majority of my Soup and potato home to eat on for the next 4 days but to see that much food at one time made me positively ILL!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
