Tomorrow I will be 4 weeks post op' date=' and I'm down 32 lbs down, I'm now 198.8, I've got at least 65 more lbs to lose and then the real work begins, maintaining your weight loss...Yeah!!![/quote']

Good for you. I'm only down about 19-20 lbs in 4 weeks. I don't know if its my complications and having to have a second surgery or this is just something else I'm going to fail out. Sorry. My depression is out of control right now.

Ok' date=' I'm new to the support group. Surgery date June 12th. PreOp weight 247, current weight 224. I've had two really bad days when eating almost solid food. Think I either didn't chew well enough or I pushed it too soon. I'm finding the unflavored Protein Powder to be helpful mixed with V8 fusion light juices and fortunately I love Greek yogurt. I'm craving salad, fried chicken, and cheeseburgers! Feels strange meeting friends for lunch/dinner and not eating much, if at all, but it'll come around.[/quote']

Yesterday was my first time eating strawberry Greek yogart, it was delicious, I'm going to go out today and buy more.

Kristlynngirl The surgeon told me that depression gets very active about weeks 3-4 because of the hormonal imbalance caused by the fat loss. (Fat traps estrogen). 19-20 lbs is awesome!

I'm glad were talking about this. I pretty much had a nervous break down this week. Upping my depressions meds. Valium has saved my sanity. Getting ready to move next week, school full time....blah blah I feel like I'm losing my mind. I urge everyone feeling this way to find someone to be there for you!!

I just feel so defeated. I've been so sick and have had so many problems. Having to have a second surgery really just broke me. Missing work and running out of money. I had just moved in April because my now ex fiancé and I split up exactly 6 months before our wedding date. I feel like so far in 2013 that the world has been against me and its just been one thing after another. Feel like I'm never going to be back on my feet.

About the depression, as someone who has struggled with it most of my life, it will sound cliche but the bad times are temporary. Look for the positives and realize the negatives don't define you. You are taking daily steps forward. Remember to forgive yourself! Again, it is temporary, really good things will come.

I too, hit a stall @ 3weeks, but I am currently unable to get 64oz of Water down and struggle to get 60 grams of Protein. I've read that is a real key to the pound loss even though I'm on consuming about 500 calories per day (and walking 30 min daily). I'm down 23 lbs since preop but annoyed at my weight loss too. But surgeon said they expect 50 - 60 lbs in 3 months so I choose to stay optimistic at this moment but in a couple of weeks I'm gonna get mad!

I understand :( I haven't had it nearly as rough as you but I can only imagine. I'm here if you need someone.

Your complications may not be the reason, everybody's is different. Im so sorry you've been having a little trouble, but remember after they fix you up, you will be on your way, keep your head up,

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
