So being that I'm trying to get into dating again....when do you "admit" you've had weightloss surgery!?

I'm not at all embarrassed. But tryingKr to talk my way out of meeting for beers or pizza isn't easy. It seems like everything revolves around alcohol and food. And so many people attach such a stigma to the surgery itself.

Kristlynngirl,

im starting back up also, im letting things take a natural course. if they bring it up so be it. but i figure somewere along the line this will come out.

Dont lie but then again you bring it up when you feel comfortable. as fars as cocktails and lite fare just go for virgin drinks or just tell them you do not drink! ( but not in a judgemental way :-)

the pizza thing is tougher, ive just been using the " im really not up for pizza" and order something that fits my nutritional needs ( this is a very tough nut to crack) i am finding that if you keep the conversation engaging and flowing people dont pay attention to what you are not eating!

Good luck with this let me know how your doing. Dont settle for any jerks!!! There is someone out there at this very moment searching for you and could care less about the rny. Have a great day.

RJ

I am a very slow loser, I've been at the same weight of 185 for 15 days, my husband says "maybe that's going to be your weight" I wanted to bite his head off, I told him I didn't go through this just to lose 45 lbs., although I did it for health reasons, however I refuse not to fail, I am 50lbs away from my goal, it may not seem like a lot, but I'm short and round, lol it's time to kick it up a notch, I need to work harder...

Wanna hear something weird and a bit ironic? My doc finally called yesterday with the results of my kidney stone analysis during my EGD. He said I have uric acid kidney stones and to not eat a lot of shellfish or animal Protein. Funny thing is, I haven't had any! When I got that stone I wasn't even drinking my protein anymore cause I was so sick. Gonna call my Bari doc today and see if I need to switch to soy protein.

Hi y'all,

i wanted to put this out there and see what comes back.

We all talk about nutrition, formely know as food! our numbers and our ever decreasing weight.

How are things on the mental/ behavioral side? ive started to notice major changes. example i bought a pair of pants and shorts the next size down not because the fit (yet!!!) but because the were on sale and i know I WILL fit into them shortly. this i find amazing prior to this, lets say last year if clothes did not fit i would get in a pissy mood go home and get a pizza or some crap like that and lament on how fat i am !!! waaa waaa poor fat me. not amy more this is soooooo much more than a surgery its like being released from an overweight prison.

does anyone else have any experiences of changes in how you process emotions now??

RJ

Since my surgery I have gained so much confidence. I'm able to go new places without thinking I am going to be the largest person in the room. I feel like I am real now.

I too have gained confidence. The other day I had a disagreement with another teacher through email. In the past I would have continued in email trying to sort it out and I probably would have backed down. Instead of doing that I marched myself to her room, confidently stated my points and did not back down !!!!!! Felt good!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
