I'm a teacher, too. I teach 2nd grade. I had my surgery on 6/18, which was the earliest I could get once school got out. After tomorrow, we're down to 3 weeks of summer break left and I have so much I want to get done! I'm fighting an internal infection and had to have another drain put in last Friday. Praying that the drain comes out on Monday and that the infection is gone!! I need those 3 weeks!!

Good Evening June RNYers,

I have been playing around in the Kitchen more and wanted to share this with you . first off I LOVE HUMMUS (but now in much smaller, teeny tiny portions) it high in Fiber blends well with protien powder and goes down smooth ... and it frickin awesome tasting ..

RJ'S HEAVENLY HIPPIE HUMMUS

1 - 15.5 oz. can of chick peas

1/4 red bell pepper ( fire roasted if ya got em )

4 Tbsp. of olive oil ( 3 will work it just gets kinda thick like paste)

1 Tsp. of garlic salt ( less is always better )

1 tbsp of red wine vinegar

1 tbsp of lemon juice ( i use the concentrated in the green bottle )

2 or 3 tablespoons of cumin ( depends how much you like cumin, im a big cumin fan!)

optional : you can add Cayenne Pepper for some heat. does not effect the flavor

toss it all into a blender for 30 seconds and viola!! Hummus that would cost you 6 Dollars in the store and has all kinds of preservatives in it

you just made for under 2 dollars ... you just need to use it over the next 3 maybe 4 days if it is chilled properly. hope this helps those who are still in the pureed foods phase. or for those who just like hummus as much as i do.

all measurements are with actual measuring spoons. recipe can be adjusted easily for your individual taste

Cheers

RJ

RJ- LOVE this… "4AM - Up and at them!!! in reality I lay in bed and check RNY talk till 5am "

I bought a fitbit flex (i had the zip before) and when the site is working I love it. It tracks my steps' date=' my sleep, calories burned.. you can track your food, Water all sorts… and I love the dashboard so I can keep track of it all. When you reach your step goal for the day you feel the Bracelet vibrate on your wrist. It also syncs with Map my walk. I think this is a link for a referral and will give you more info if interested, http://bit.ly/1dI4WOa[/quote']

Had my surgery on 6/20/13 so tomorrow I'm four weeks out. Having trouble getting all the fluids in - there is just no way I can get 64 oz in!! It takes me all day to get 32 oz down. The past two weeks I've felt totally exhauste. At my two week follow up my surgeon told me the exhaustion was due to dehydration so she put me back on Clear Liquids and wanted me to concentrate on getting 64 oz in. Any tips on how to get it all in - really sick of propel...

I had my surgery 6/21. I struggle daily with getting in my Water as well. I feel like I drink nonstop and still can't get enough. I hope it gets better.

I teach 2nd grade as well! Our school doesn't have us back until Aug 15, so I've got a while. I'm nervous about going back and eating properly and getting my Water in.

Ahhh can't stand this common core. They literally want is to cover everything yet the semester always seems to get shorter and shorter what with losing days for activities and testing!

So I'm a few days behind. I've been in hiding. Aimee surgery I've been having insomnia, nightmares, high anxiety, just to name a few. About a week ago I was talking to my aunt about all these things I was feeling. She's a pharmacist. We determined that my Celexa wasn't getting absorbed correctly. Went into my regular doc and head him pull blood work. Sure enough I was only getting 5 - 10% of my meds. Starts crushing them a few days ago and taking it that way. I seem to feel a little better, I'm going back for blood work next week. I'll keep everyone posted. It may be that your meds aren't working like they used to!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
