Are you eating softer foods? My dr told me eating softer foods will increase calories. Tomorrow try and eat firmer foods and see how that works.

Im the complete opposite today. I can't stand the thought of food at all. :(

You were right! I ate a medium sized meatball with marinara and cheese for dinner. TOTALLY filled me up! I feel so much better now! Lol

Had an appointment with my surgeon today following up after my cicatrix and stricture removal. Said I should have no problems now! Also said my weight loss was more what they expect at two months! Blew my mind, I thought I was slow at 25ish lbs in a month.

Said I can start eating solid food, just to take it slow. Relieved but terrified and don't know where to start! He said slow cooked or rotisserie chickens are good. He was surprised I can do eggs already and thinks since I can I shouldn't have much trouble.

Today is the third time in as many weeks that I've had the same exact problem. It's beyond awful. I've used Milk of Mag each time but I need this to STOP happening. WLS life is hard' date=' man!!!! I will admit I have not walked like I should mainly bc the energy wasnt there and my hydration is horrible. I'm 5+ weeks out and I can't get it all in. It's a vicious cycle! I think if I moved more it would help with energy and getting that stuff in. I want to just give up sometimes but I know that's not an option. Pray for me! Sigh....

Surgery: 6/5/2013[/quote']

I talked to my surgeon (ok, the PA) about this yesterday. She told me to get in more fibrous foods like sweet potatoes and take metamucil or Miralax daily in some Water. Said that when I can eat greens or broccoli/cauliflower it will be so much better. And also that it is probably because we eat so much less fat and Fiber at this early stage.

I'm worried that I can eat too much! I am at 700 calories for the day and haven't even eaten dinner yet! 2 weeks ago it was a struggle to get 300 cals in a day. Ugh. I feel like I could eat and eat today! I'm worried.

It's ok. I'm 5 weeks out too. My nut says 800-1000 calories a day, upping it to 1200 on exercise days. You're doing fine, relax. Lower than that you'll hit starvation mode. Are you tracking with MyFitness Pal?

No, he put a gauze over it folded into thirds and taped it really tight. Yesterday I took all that off and put a big square band aid on it. I think the scar will be weird and not flat unfortunately. I already look like Swiss cheese on my stomach. Im prepared to tell people it was my gun shot wound. Lol.

Nauseated today ever since Breakfast. Had some oatmeal which has never been a problem before. Tried to drink a Protein Shake and couldn't finish it. Just took some zofran, hoping it helps, especially since I'm at work.

Hello all. Hope everybody is doing well. Me, not so much, I am really starting to second guess my decision. I had surgery on June 18th, 2013. First two weeks I was doing well, other than being sore everything was good. Then I started my purée stage on July 2nd and it feels as though everything went down hill. I feel nausea 99% of the time, and at times have a stomach ache. I am able to drink and eat so I don't think I have a blockage, however with the way I feel I don't want to drink or eat and am struggling to meet my liquid and Protein requirements. I didn't have a bowel movement for about a week, so I did take some milk of magnesia and thankfully I did and thought maybe that was the problem however I am not feeling any better. I did call and speak with my surgeons office and basically they said to keep getting my liquids and protein in, maybe the reason I feel sick, if I am not getting them all in, yea I get that however it's a little hard when your sick to your stomach. I am just so frustrated and don't know what to do at this point. I am so tired of feeling this way. Has anyone else experienced any of this? Is this normal? Any suggestions? Thank you all for listening to me, any help will be appreciated.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
