Anyone else's belly still really swollen from surgery? Mine is huge and I even have a drain in. This surgery seemed to be very traumatic on my body compared to every other surgery I've had. I'm worried they won't pull my drain when I go in Thursday. :/

Mine is also. Don't know how much bc I thought my stomach was huge before so it's still huge to me. LOL. I didn't have a drain. But I'm still burping and passing gas a lot more than I usually do. I'm not sure how long it will take to go down.

I'm still swollen and gassy. But even after all the Fluid gain after surgery I weighed in at 299.6 this morning. I was 307 the morning of surgery. So I'm thinking I can cope with the annoyance of recovering from surgery.

I just finished my first whole bottle of water!!! It took all day but I'm ever so excited!!!! I also did 8oz of Protein in there. I know lots of u r drinking more than me but I'm excited for my own progress!!! :-). Surgery was Wed morning.

Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

I'm right there with you I drank one bottle of Water and some Powerade and that was progress. My doctor doesn't wa t me taking in even protein shales until next week, but that may be because I had a previous stomach surgery they had to undo before my bypass and I'm high risk for leaking. I was also a Wednesday surgery and have absolutely no desire to eat right now. It's strange to go from so hungry to this

Clear liquids tomorrow so I do not have to do a bowel prep for my surgery on Tuesday. Starting to get a little nervous.

Wow I'm jealous! I had to do two days of clear liquids and 2 days of bowel prep..... eventually it all looked the same going in as coming out

Mine is still very swollen and I finally got back to my presurgery weight again today. I was 8 lbs heavier the day after surgery and I have a drain in too. Think my body is just mad at me!

Really? No shakes? That makes me nervous. They discharged me from the hospital Friday telling me to eat Stage 3 stuff! I was SHOCKED!! I haven't dared really go that route yet though. I did eat a piece of chicken from a can of Campbell's chicken noodle Soup. It is already minuscule and u ate it in two bites and chewed it to high heaven!! LOL. So it's like it wasn't even a solid. But I'm still just going to concentrate more in getting in fluids first then whatever protein I can until my 2 week follow-up on the 21st.

Woke up with a puddle of foamy spit up on my pillow. Now I keep coughing something fierce. Ugh.

Oh no! Sending prayers now that it gets better. Has this happened before?

Tried chicken broth again and it still came up. I think I may be having bouts or productive burping!? It happens when I feel like I have air stuck and it comes up looking foamy laced with saliva.

I'd kill for a Protein Shake with some milk but I don't know if it would soothe or make things worse. Other than the spitting up' date=' I'm up and moving around and fine without pain meds. Just feel a little tight in the belly. Felt so good to take a shower and chill out on my own furniture.[/quote']

Sounds like you are frothing, if so, you should drink got Water with a little lemon, it will break up the mucus, it's thick in your stomach.

Wow!! We've got quite a list going. Good luck to everyone next week!! Don't hype it up. It really isn't that bad.

Good morning, that's what I want to hear, I have to be at the hospital at 11:30 am, I'm feeling at peace and I'm not that nervous thanks to you all. Thanks for all the prayers, encouragement, and support. I will keep you guys posted.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
