I have loved reading what all of you who had surgery last week are going through; it is really preparing me for my surgery in a few weeks. I had a question for you all: what was the one thing that surprised you the most or wished someone told you before going in?

Well, I'd have agree with the others - the sleepiness. Not bc I want to do a bunch but bc then is know it was normal and I would have felt like I was dehydrating myself and been so down on myself about not drinking bc I kept falling asleep. I also wish I had known that I would definitely have at least one day afterward where I'd ask myself "what the heck did I just do to myself???" I wasn't prepared for that. And the tiredness ignited it even more. I was a weepy mess in the hospital for two days. LOL. But I kept asking God for help and He came through and I made. Oh, and also that u may feel "just ok" for the first week or so. I thought I'd bounce back and feel GREAT within a few days but so far ok my 5th day out, I just feel OK. And that's ok. Good luck with everything. There is a light at the end of the tunnel but u have to get through the beginning first. It's our right of passage so to speak. LOL. The loser's bench don't come easy.....whether its' by way of surgery or diet and exercise alone. Just keep that in mind.

Also, I didn't have a drain tube. Not every doctor uses those.

I was surprised mostly by how I imagined the pain and how it actually hurt. I feel like I made it so huge in my brain, but it has not turned out to be as bad as I thought. Good luck!

I just called into my doctor about the sharp pain I have been experiencing in my left side since yesterday. Hoping they can reassure me that its not a big deal.

I'm on pureed food for 2 weeks. He gave me great recipes to try. Soft foods after this phase.

I think I over did it yesterday. I haven't been able to drink as much today. But I did have a quarter cup of yogurt that sat very well. But when I take a deep breath I get this dull pain that wasn't there before.

I have a call in to the dietician about my spitting everything back up. I'm really worried. Only holding down about half of what I'm putting in.

Just got done my final surgeon appointment before surgery on the 18th. All clear and good to go. Lost 7lbs, 9lbs with my clothes off, lol! Excited and nervous all at the same time! This liquid diet is a killer, I am still hungry and miss food!! 1 week down, 1 more to go!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
