I started on page one of this thread, and I was surprised how many people had fallen off this list here and there. I'm so sorry. I don't know how that's happened, but I've tried my best to include EVERYONE, even those who don't have a date yet. So if you don't see your name let me know, if you have a date change, I'll change it on the list. No problem!

My insurance company came back and said they wanted an additional 2-3 months of diet documentation in addition to the 12 months I did with the nutritionist. So my surgery has been cancelled until end of May at the earliest.

I'm 5'4" 328... we have similar starting points! I'd love to share our experience with surgery i.e.: ups and downs' date=' losses, NSVs, I think it would be wonderful. I'm so happy there are so many people in this post that we can learn and gain encouragement from![/quote']

That would be great. I start my pre-op diet Tuesday. I am a bit nervous about it. I know I will feel as if I am starving at least the first few days. I work in customer service and I am not sure I can manage to remain calm and friendly when I get one of those complaint calls with someone screaming in my ear. I have warned my supervisor that I may turn into an angry beast during this diet and may not perform at my best lol.

Lol. I'm not looking forward to the pre-op diet, so I plan to start hanging my eating before I'm forced to. Lol

I'm new to the forums' date=' but I have a surgery date set for March 8. Like everyone else, nervous, but excited at the same time. I look forward to going through the process with people who are going through it too.

For all the people that have told you the terrible gastric stories about WLS and how people gain it back-- Both my sister and my father have had the RNY and both Are doing fabulous. My sister is a size 4 (baggy) and lives a normal life with small food quantities. My father was dying from congestive heart failure, but told him this surgery might save his life, or at least buy him some time. My sister is 6 years post op and my dad is 4! My dad is now hiking and cycling![/quote']

I'm so glad you posted this. Made the mistake of telling someone today and she told me about a horror story. Reading this made me feel so much better.

Janel- I think that crockery set is a wonderful idea! I've bought some toddler spoons and weaning tubs, ready for one and two ounce portions, but I love the idea of having specific (cute!) crockery.

I didn't fib, I was just asking how she'd done it. The "so exciting" was just out there a a general term for the way I'm feeling. So I don't know how the "whole fib thing" would help as I haven't tried it.

Thank you, my daughter and granddaughter are moving so they have come to stay with us for a couple of months and my granddaughter is planning to eat off them as well. So she and I will be at the kids table.

I also bought bariware's Bari bowl set.... It is perfect and comes with utensils.

Okay, couldn't really tell by some of the names but from looking through the posts, I didn't see any guys on your list.

Surgery date is 11 March. Start my liquid diet tomorrow. I've read a lot about the nervousness and anxieties about getting closer to the actual date. Gotta tell y'all from a guys perspective it's no different. The scary part for me is about the liquid diet preop. After years of being on the "diabetic roller coaster" ( as one of you ladies put it), I'm really not looking forward to having to check my blood sugars that many more times in a day. Especially in the business setting I work in. Maybe it's a guy thing about showing one of my weaknesses...don't know.

Anyway, aside from all the anxieties I really am looking forward to having a new life. I'd be honored if you'd add me to the list for support and in return I'll offer all the prayers, support and well wishes that I can.

Steevo

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
