Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Now for the personals....

Cindy - I am sorry that story haunts you. Like you said, though, maybe now you can just put it behind you and be grateful that nothing like that will ever happen again. You have so much to be proud of in that regard, but most importantly you are a wonderful human being and valued friend. I'm sure that lady's intention was good and that she would be horrified to know exactly how much the whole incident hurt you.

Laura - Everytime I see a picture of you I am so glad you did this while you are young. You are such a beautiful young lady, even at your heaviest, but get more beautiful with each passing month. AND....you are halfway there in such a short time!!!! You have had your struggles but you seem to be hitting your stride now! Excellent job, girlfriend!!!!

TracyKS - I hope your little family is feeling better tomorrow and it's just a little bug  Yuck!! You are a dedicated employee and the nunnery is lucky to have you! I hope they notice!

Pammy - I am so happy for you that you were able to finish your dream!!!! The one I had like that MANY years ago with Tom Cruise still haunts me because right when things were getting good, my alarm went off....and I am still 'frustrated' because of it 20 years later! Grrrrrrrrrrr. LOL

TracyK - I don't envy your having to unpack but it is always exciting to set up a new house. At least I won't have to worry about you during hurricane season!! Loved the story about your DD...she sounds like a little angel.

Jane - That was so sweet of you to include a gift for Kinsey! I am just such a dufus in the thoughtfulness department. It would have never occurred to me to do something like that...I am ashamed to admit it, but it's true. Anyway, glad the gift arrived FINALLY and you dont have to worry about it anymore!

Judy - Your float iin the hot tub sounds wonderful!! Wow. Ice fishing????? Yikes!! You're a better woman than I!!

Have lots of tossing out and organiziing to do today....and the housekeeper comes in a few so I need to get on it. I'll be back later and see how everyone's day is going!

XOXOXO!!!

TracyKS, maybe it was the camera that took up that extra weight!!!!! Whatever it was under 200 is FANTASTIC!!!!! I am going to be so happy when I am there.

Cindy, didn't get a knock on the door this morning telling me to get up!!! Boy, what a neurotic little girl that mother is going turn her little girl into. Stalking!!! Hugs!!!

Glad everyone has survived the holidays!!! I didn't do an official weigh in on Monday like I normally do, did a unofficial one Tuesday and it said the same. So if Cindy comes to my house every morning this week maybe I will see a loss on Monday!!!

Off to shower and then work, short work week only 3 days, then off three days. Well have a good day!!

Morning girls!

It is white where I live! Several inches on the ground and coming down hard. DD is not going up to work, some of the roads where she works are actually closed. The airport there, is next door to her plant, and it is closed this morning. So no Kinsey. My son is sitting at home waiting to see if they close our local airport. He is supposed to fly from here to Denver (which is already showing a 90 minute to 3 hour delay) and then into Wyoming, where he picks up a truck and trailer and then is supposed to drive them to Williston North Dakota. Has me a nervous wreck....of course! Then tomorrow I am supposed to take Dad to Albuquerque for the final doplar, and testing required to schedule his next carotid artery surgery. Right now there is an area exactly half way between me and Albq. where the road is closed, due to snowpack. Might be a good thing the freezer is stocked, I may just sit tight at home!

Just got off the phone with my friend Becky, she is having a horrible day, had both of us in tears! Today is the year anniversary of losing her Dad. Her son has recently bought into a towing company, and he does all the wench truck calls. She had a nightmare, of a car sliding into him while he was hooking up a car, and pinning him between the truck and the car. She is so upset....and scared....being a typical Mom, she wants to call this 27 year old and ground him! She works with Manda--well for the same HUGE company, and she too has been told to stay home, the road is not passable yet--they are in the southern mountains of Colorado where they work. They are only a few miles from a large ski resort, the resort is reporting 18" overnight!! No wonder the plows cannot keep up! Plus when you factor in it is a college town, and all the schools being out, I bet the roads to the resort are a mess!! I am glad she and Manda are staying home. Rick said it was slick on his way in this morning, but he usually hits it before much traffic, so he has fresh snow to drive on, not ice.

Now I need to go look through the freezer and find something good to dump in the crock pot, and let simmer all day! This time of day nothing sounds good to me!! Thinking Green Chile chicken cheese Soup........easy, think I have all the components....and Rick loves it!

If it snows a lot---I intend to try to get Rick to take me snowshoeing this weekend in Colorado. It was so much fun! Exercise out the wazooo----but fun!

Yesterday in Walmart they were putting out swimming suits! We looked around, and there were all kinds of little girls sleeveless dresses and things! And for some reason all of the Valentine shirts they had were either sleeveless or short sleeved, nothing with long sleeves. It will still be serious winter here, and most other places! It made my heart happy to see summer things again though--I am sooo ready--we wanted to take a motorcycle ride on Christmas day, we usually try to! But it snowed. C'mon summer!!!

Well I am off to raid the freezer-----will be back in a bit, with this weather looks like I am doing nothing else today!

Glad you check in on us Terri! How long is your mom going to be living with you?

Still no snow here, but it's pretty darn cold. I am suddenly extremely clumsy. At work we deal with a LOT of paper, so everyone gets papercuts.. so I always have one or two.. but lately, I am cutting my hands up all the time. And they hurt! I have 8 papercuts right now, and I just noticed a new one. Grr!

Work is getting hectic. Lot of people screwing up and of course I am the one that has to explain to our customers why we (and by we, I mean the people in the plant) made stupid mistakes.. no, we're not idiots I swear. Hrmph.

Everyone is stressing.. and it's slow time right now. We should never have any mistakes during slow time.

Hope everyone has a good CTCD!!

I am having a mini OJ for b'fast. And it's taking it's dear sweet time to go through the hole.

oh heck.............. one of the sisters invited me to lunch in their dinning room.......... CRaP! it is nice, but they get charged per person and even if I just eat soup.... it costs them an entire person. (they don't know about my little silicone fist)

Terry: great to hear from you........... I was getting worried.

OK.. time for some water!

My mom put candy in our stockings. Reese's, Kisses, Rolos, and Dove Caramel. I have been feeding Rolos to DH cause I don't like those enough to splurge on them. And I've been eating some of the others, but in a controlled way. One of each, that's it.. etc.

Last night I was in bed, I had my one of each.. then I was almost asleep.. DH spilled ashtray on the bed, so we had to vacuum the bed, I was wide awake and stressed about him spilling the ashtray (I had filled it with pins I took out of one of his dress shirts). So then I ate like 3 more kisses and 2 more reese's. Now I'm feelin guilty, and I think maybe I should throw out the rest because I'll keep doing this.. or.. I'll eat them all at once and get it over with. I hate not knowing what to do in these instances. I should be able to enjoy them in moderation, it's just that me & moderation don't get along

omg... garage door is way broken, won't even stay up now... WTF... what in the world am I going to do???

I am going to have to beg and plea with my step mom's landlord and see if he will take weekly payments and if he will cut me a break - or i'll have to wait until Feb... which would suck because the door wont stay up so I can even get the snow blower out.

Good Morning ,

Didi your doctor give you a little green card that has your band size and ID number?

On this card it states something about you having a gastric weightloss device and you should not eat more then 3-4 oz at a time. I show this card to places like that and they give me a special price. I eat the kids meal all the time. I travel a lot for work and eating out can be really spendy. Not to mention the salt and other crap they load it up with. oh sorry personal rant.

Anyway nice to see everyone.

Afternoon, Violets..

Back from getting my nails done. I put in chicken in the crock pot for Greek chicken pitas for supper. We're having company on Saturday and I wanted to try them out first. We're having spinach pie, Greek chicken pitas, greek salad and greek Cookies. Do you sense a theme here??

Laura... ***Bullhorn wailing, sirens screaming*** STEP AWAY FROM THE CANDY!!!! Give it away or ditch it. You've had your tastes and one day won't make or break anything, but continuing will. I was soooooooo glad when all the fudge left the house. The Bobster was having a very bad time with it. Luckily I'm not a fudge eater so it didn't bother me that much.

I finished 2 glasses of Crystal light this morning and have the next 4 glasses slushie and ready for me to start on in 45 minutes. yummy.

Ethan is due to arrive any minute so I better get off here. Everyone have a great day!!

Nancy: I have a little card that my docs office gave me to show restraunts. They don't have to honor it, but most do. Most times I just order alacarte.

Laura: There will be more candy...... get rid of it.. today is CUT THE CRAP DAY!

I just got back from lunch with the sisters.......... I had a bowl of veggie beef Soup (mainly broth) and SF bananna pudding... a spoon of mashed taters with chicken gravy...... it was nice because I was eating and it wasn't really noticable that I hardly had anything..... and I am ful.

WWJD!

Hi Vi's

I see everyone using crystal lite is that just cuz you like it?

It makes my head hurt so I use very week green tea with lemon. Anyone heard anything bad about green tea? I know it makes me pee a lot.

I love watching you guys check in. Currently it's snowing at my house. It's to cold to go out. So it's nice to have you shrinking vi's to read about.

I'll tell you a little about me. I have 2 kids

Nichol turned 29 yesterday and my son Adam is 22 .

Nichol is in Altlanta and thinking of getting banded and Adam is in Portland Or.

I live near Mt. Hood since my weightloss I've been learning to snowboard and ski. Well my daughter calls it "Snowpantsing"

Because now that I can fit into snowbunny clothes I have cute new snow pants! Even if I fall on my BA DUNK A DUNK I look cute a hell. LOLOLOLL.

Have a wonderful day.

I don't drink CL much if ever, I prefer water.. only CL I like is pink lemonade, and they don't have individual packets around here.. and one day in the fridge makes it taste weird to me.

Anyway, me and DH are going to the mall after work. Going to try on clothes in new sizes (wow.) I haven't 'tried on clothes' in years and years. Going to see what's out there for me! I'm excited. Mom got me some sweaters from the mall, size 2x. They're all a little big, and these are from normal stores like Dillard's. Makes me pretty giddy. I think I could actually wear a 1x in the sweater I'm wearing today. A 1x. Me? .... Sniff sniff

And in return, going to ditch the stocking candy when I get home.

Happy Thursday Violets!

Thanks to all who posted about the mean lady and her daughter, but y'all that was Susie's story. Not mine. Susie, you are so far from the lady standing at that deli counter that was so ashamed. You have NOTHING to be ashamed of now. And look at you, about to get the keys to the kingdom, um, I mean Curves. Your clients will LOVE you because you know what they are fighting against and can give them hope.

TracyinKS, the silicone fist is too appropriate of a name for our lapband! :-)

Kat, I am so envious of you and Judy for getting some snow. Well, at least envious of some of the snow you two get. I tend to get cabin fever fairly quickly so a few days of imposed closed-in-the-house time would be fun...for 12 hours!

Thanks to all for sharing what your Santas brought you. Now, here's my question: what gift did you give that brought YOU the most pleasure in giving. My family and I did not exchange gifts this Christmas because we went on the cruise together, so that was our gift to each other. And my niece Tes loves books so I really loaded her up with them. Probably the best gift I gave this year, I think, was my time and a donation to a local restaurant feeding the needy on Christmas Eve.

I helped serve the people that came in and was so overwhelmed with THEIR gratitude! The food was amazing (Caution: food porn ahead!) Ham, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatos, cole slaw, potato salad, green Beans, etc. and Desserts too numerous to mention. The organizers had a Santa on hand to give out gifts to the children, and the gifts were nice ones. For example, a 14-yr. old boy got a DVD/radio boom box. And a twelve year old girl got three lovely necklace and earring sets, and she was THRILLED.

The best part may have been when I volunteered to carry a grandmother and her two grandchildren, a girl 12, and a boy 8, home because they didn't have a ride. Their home was so sadly pitiful. The yard was neatly kept, but the home was only about 15 ft. by 30 ft. Really the size of a storage shed. And four (4!) people lived there. The bathroom was an outhouse...can you believe that in 2007, people still do not have indoor plumbing?!? What an eye-opening visit that was.

I am so thankful this Christmas for the things I have, but much more importantly, for the friends and loved ones that love me. (This means YOU!)

love to all,

Cindy

Hi Nancy, sorry I didn't get the welcoming done sooner!!! My Dr. gave me a card, and some honor it some don't, and some places it depends on the cashier, or waitress. I don't stress too much over it. There is a man I totally dislike that is an assistant manager at Golden Corral, and he was a jerk when we tried to reserve the room with the big sign saying "Reserve Me for your Party", for my inlaws 60th wedding anniversary. He refused, saying it was their busy day! It is more of a racial thing with him, I have since been told. Now if he is at the counter when I go in, he refuses to let me have my meal for a childs price, instead he will do it at the senior discount. I have paid the full amount before, it is not that big of a deal but I really don't like him. So when he said that to us, I told my DH with the jerk standing there, "that's ok pay it, I can waste an easy $20 or more of food in here today!" He gets all flustered and says to me something like -Ma'am we ask that you not take food you cannot eat-. I told him "yeah, I know, I ask you to make an exception because I cannot eat much food, but we can't always do those things can we?" He sees me walk in now, and he leaves!! Most of the cashiers read it and charge me childs meal prices---he was just a jerk! He told my friend when she showed hers, that the surgery must not have worked!

We go to Golden Corral for Breakfast, about once a month as a family---meet the parents, both sets, sisters, brothers, kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, assorted adopted family friends....the whole crew! Every one pays their own way as we go in, we get to eat and visit, and no one has to cook, or clean, and when we leave we have the entire weekend free....we have seen everyone!!

Well it is shining BRIGHT outside, and still snowing like crazy!!! It is blinding!

Laura, Avon used to make this lotion called Silicone Glove. My Mom worked for a printer for years, they used this lotion, it makes a thin coat over your skin, and it drastically cut down on the paper cuts, it is not oily, does not bleed off on paper products. Not sure they still make it, but it might be worth checking on. I have an Aunt & Uncle in Washington State who own and operate a fish cannery, and they used it, it kept the fish smell from penetrating into the skin.

Cindy----recovered from that hard (!) vacation yet???

Got my Soup in the crock pot!

DD made it to work, but Great Grandma got to keep Kinsey today----so I am doing laundry and other fun stuff!!!

BBL to check on everyone-----it is boring in my house!!

Kat

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
