Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

hi jennifur

last night i was thinking about your situation and i'm wondering if you are eating too little. also with the working out you are doing you are using even more calories. so your body is "holding on for dear life" to it's restores.

i definitely shut down losing when i cut my calories too low. many years ago i was in a rehab for eating disorder. i was not eating. they proved to me by fueling my body and exercising..it makes the machine run better

what i try to do is keep within the 1000-1100 cals range and once it awhile...bump it up. i also have other days where i eat less

i read this in the "body for life" book to keep tricking your metabolism and i believe it works. i've tried it. for me the hard part after bumping the calories up is to get back in line with the lower amt

anyway...you dont have anything to lose (but weight :o

hope your son feels better. the croup is nasty

Yeah, in Body for Life they allow one "free day" per week where you can stuff yourself silly if you want to. I tend to agree with that as well and I seem to bump up my calories on the weekend when I'm spending more time out and about. You might give it a try over the next month and see what happens. I've even been known to have a milkshake to get mine up! Woo hoo!

Jenn, I only work one muscle group per week! I do legs and abs on Mon., Triceps and Back on Wed., Biceps and chest on Saturday. (Body for Life is the same basic schedule). The other days I'm strictly doing cardio. My trainer did say that you can't over-work the abs so you can do those anytime.

Terry

thanks for the info on the abs. I work out hard every day, i'm going to try something different this week. I am going from 218-221 and it is making me crazy. I could go back to the Protein Shake week where I lost 10 lbs but I need to get my eating habits regulated before I do a jump start type of thing.

I'm off to the gym, then to JCPenney to find something to wear to a political picnic on Saturday. I am going to wear a Navy t-shiirt to support my friend who is running for legislator (he is amazing and only 36 - you will all see his name some day I'm sure of it!) but all my pants are too big and I have to look presentable. Hillary is going to be there, I should tell here because I lost my job in NYS I can't afford to buy clothes because I can't find a new job. LOL

Has anyone ever gotten stuck on a plateau? I am so sick of not losing. I hate butting in here because you all seem to know each other so well, but I am in desperate need of help.

I don' t see how it's possible for me to not lose weight. Since my last fill, I eat about 2/3 of a Cup of food, and I have always exercised like crazy. I feel like fasting, but everyone says that will put me in starvation mode.

I didn't pay all this money to only lose 40 lbs.

Denise, perhaps you're not eating enough. The body needs nutrients and calories to function. Why don't you make a appontment with a nutritionist and have her make a proper eating plan for you. Not only will you start losing weight but you'll feel better.

Good morning, all..

It's a beautiful day here and time for me to get out and get that last flowerbed made. I have the paving bricks down and now need to do the black liner and then add the mulch.

For all those that have issues with weight or diet or whatever, you can get support here online for sure, but you really need to be talking with your doctors and your nutritionists. We're all different here and we all have suggestions which are valid. But the final word should be with those professionals that you have paid for either with your insurance or your own out of pocket bucks. I know whenever I call with a problem or concern, they are right back to me on the phone. Please don't think I'm trashing those with suggestions here. I'm not!!! But if you really are concerned and stressing over it and not sure what to do.... then make that call!!

All you Texas people that are getting together.. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!! I so envy you!!!!! I'm stuck up here in Northern Michigan and the in person support group is 4 hours away!!!

Good morning Jennifer, ladies!

Good Morning Violets~

I just got home from the gym! I did 3 miles on bike, then 100 crunches, 40 side crunches, arms, back, inner and outer thighs and my wonderful ass machine. I know it is too much to do daily, but since it has been a couple of weeks, I wanted to jump back in to it. Then on my way out, I did 1 more mile on the bike! I feel great! I only put on 3 pounds in the 2 weeks, but considering I was eating out nearly every meal, I am pretty impressed w/ myself. Plus I know I will drop them fast, hopefully by the end of the week. The fill will help, plus having to go back on liquids.

Last night I made lemon/pepper chicken, steamed cauliflower (sp) and mashed red pots. It tasted so good to eat at home. Gonna make steaks tonight, figured I gotta get it in before the fill, lol.

Well today, we are having the plumber, the gardner, and the contractor over today. I see $$$$$ leaving my account as I type this...but it will be worth it in the end!

Have a great day violets! I know Laura is on her honeymoon...but she needs to take a break and post~:o

And Jennifer...you are so lucky! I know I may not be in the majority here, but I love Hillary! She is visionary and brillant...and I would love to meet/see her...have fun!

Hey Terri, Josie, Schexxy, whoever else is joining us on the 24th... Town and Country is fine with me. I like Cafe Express and I've never been to Escalante. Either is fine with me, I'm not picky at all. I get off of work at 5 so I can be down there at about 5:45. I know Terri is way smaller than me, but are any of the other ladies coming in a size 22-24? I have some shirts that I'd like to bring for you. Let me know. If not they are going to Goodwill.

To the lady that is having issues with a plateu - There have been some really good suggestions by some of the Violets. Please go back and read what they suggested. Personally when I've had plateus I've just riden them out. Boo-hooed alot on this board about it but then they just go away. I couldn't pin-point exactly what I've done to jump start my weight loss. Anyways, go back a few pages and read the posts and you'll get some good advice.

Talk some more later... I'm getting ready to close on a house and I just got the inspection report and I have to go over it. Jenn - did you say you were involved in construction? Would you mind taking a look at my inspection? There is one problem that I have that I don't know if I should be concerned about... Let me know. Thanks!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
