Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

So that's roughly $1100 for 3 nights! Ouch! We could cruise out of Galveston (Houston) on Carnival for way cheaper than that.

OUCH is right - that is an expensive 3 nights

I hope to get a huge tax return next year but I am so in debt from not working I'm sure it will be gone quickly. But I will stash a little

ha ha on me! I didn't know there was a new page so I answered Jenn's post from the last page... then when it posted I was like "what the??" Duh!

Thanks for looking that up, Terry! How convenient that we have you in our midst! :)

I guess we need to think about what we want to DO... party? relax? get pampered? enjoy nature? shop? That might help us narrow down a location.

When I travel w/out kids, I tend to want to RELAX... get pampered... enjoy nature. I'm not much of a shopper/partier (altho I do enjoy an umbrella drink or two now & again by the pool, but I am *not* a bar girl). Maybe a girls' spa getaway? Or cruise. I keep saying that, huh. I've never been on one, so I have no idea... or Vegas... I've been there & I jackpotted on a $1 slot machine... it paid for the whole trip + upgrades!

Well, obviously, someone ELSE is going to have to choose -- I'm too loosey goosey! :)

Morning Violets! It’s been a busy two days here on the board. Wow, I was reading forever....

JENN - 12 POUNDS, OMG girl. That's awesome! I'm leaving for vacation on the 30th and my goal was to be at 250. I'm at 262 right now. Think I can do it?<O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:p

Terri - bananas and Peanut Butter on toast is what I grew up with! Now I've eliminated the toast and just mush it all up too. Too funny...<O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:p

So my boss just got back from Hawaii this week. He came bearing gifts. calorie laden gifts. chocolate covered macadamia nuts, boxes of chocolate chip macadamia shortbread Cookies. I know, I know, food porn. When he handed them to me I just looked at him and blinked. He said, "I know, you can't have alot of this, but just eat one a day." Uh, that's not the way it works. If I have cookies, candy, anything sweet, I don't stop at one. I could work my way through a bag of Pepperidge Farm Chocolate Chunk cookies in about the length of a movie. So what I ended up doing was giving them away as door prizes at my last Pampered Chef party. My guests were delighted and I kept those two pounds off that I worked so hard for!!

<O:p</O:p

TracyKS – how did you do with the push mower? I wouldn’t even do my postage stamp sized yard with one of those. I can’t image what 5 LOTS took out of you.

<O:p</O:p

Lunasa – Since you got your Tummy Tuck before you had children what is going to happen after you have children? Will you have to get it re-done? I’ve been contemplating that for awhile now. My skin is sagging, I will definitely need a tummy tuck, boob lift, fanny Lipo (British fanny). My dilemma is that I haven’t had kids yet. If I lose my weight in one year like I’m planning, then do I go ahead and get the plastic surgery or wait the two or three years it’s going to take me to have a few rugrats?

<O:p</O:p

I would love to plan a get-away with all the Violets. I think we need to hit a beach, that way we can all show off a year of hard work!

Michelle

I am wishy washy too, and when I travel without my kids, which until dbf bike accident, we went to CT every month and while he did his Navy thing, I found myself a great place to get my hair & nails done, during the summer I would go to Mystic and hang at the beach by myself or just do whatever I wanted.

I guess our Military trips that we started doing together when I was 20 (a 2 week trip to Norfolk VA) has taught me how to be strong and independent and enjoy my time alone and how to relax.

Anyway - I am glad you told me to go, I've been thinking about leaving for work an hour early and hitting the gym on my way, and now that I'm showered and back down to 219 after eating, drinking and showering, I feel so much better and am going to get my lazy a$$ up at Terry would put it, and go

Okay, I just had the hardest time publishing that last post. I hope it goes through okay. It kept putting in all these arrows and then it would put in smileys in the middle of words. Weird. Hope it looks okay on everyones screen...

Yesterday was my 3 month anniversary and I have lost 32 pounds post surgery also (12 pounds pre-op diet). I think that is a great weight loss and I'm very proud of it, aren't you!

TracyK... don't let the evil scale get you down!... focus on something else... exercise, or getting all your Water in, or measuring, or whatever... just something else! Evil scale!

Make it a great day, everyone!

I do not really sweat the scales as much as I used to! Don't get me wrong, I love to see it go down, but when it doesn't for a little while, I know that it will eventually. It just takes preserverence (sp?) The great thing I like about this weight loss is that I know that unless I really screw up somehow, it is permanent weight loss and that is so awesome!

I am clueless about where the violets can meet....someone just take charge and say, OK, we are having it here or there....

hi again,

ok, so for starters - I think the sourkraut (sp) that I've been eating for the last 2 days is working! YIPEE (i know TMI)

Second - I have lost 38.5lbs since 4/16 and 58.5 total since January 8, 2007. I hope to be holding the 40lb mark strong by the 16th - my 3 month badiversary.

I don't know about a meeting place - as we think of places lets just throw them out there and put some thought into it.?

Okay, it sounds like I'm right on track then. I think what throws me off is the fact that alot of you started a pre-op diet and lost quite a few pounds on that. So when I see the tickers and I see like 50 or 60 pounds lost, that makes me feel like I'm way behind. I didn't have to do a pre-op diet at all but I did mimic some of the post band way of eating and I managed to lose 7 lbs pre-surgery.

I know, I know, this is not about the scale. But for me it is, just a little. Well alot. :)

Personally, I think a cruise would be awesome!!! You can get a 3 or 5 day cruise for very little money. The most expensive thing would be the air fair. We have been on 3 cruises and have 2 more booked this year. We absolutely LOVE them. You want pampering.??? Go on a cruise!!!!

Haydee..

I took the weight I was at when I went to the lapband doc the first time. I lost about 7# on a pre-op lo carb diet, but a life change is a life change so I count that as lapband weight loss even though it was a week before the band. I wouldn't have done it, if I didn't have to!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
