Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I just updated the main list which is on PAGE 1 of this thread.

You can tell when I've updated it because I change the date at the top.

Welcome to all the newly "scheduled" bansters!!

I have decided that I need to really get going with some kind of pre op, because I've gained.. I can feel it, and my ankles are swelling like I'm a pregnant girl........ not good.

I can not believe we are hitting the home stretch!!!!!! Woooohooooo!

Thanks, Panda! Those look like some very reasonable guidelines for eating with the band. I think I can do that!! :bolt:

Hi Angie!! I'm sooooooooo jealous that you live in Colorado Springs. It's one of my favorite places on the planet. I wish I could live there ;) .... Specifically, I'd like to live at the Broadmoor!! :D Manitou Spgs. reminds me so much of my beloved Austin....so cool.

Welcome to what's quickly becoming a crazy, crazy thread! Full o' kooks who are spaced out a bit due to lack of nourishment!

Hi Everyone,

My surgery date is April 5th at the TLBC,Toronto Lap Band Centre, with Dr. Yau.

I'm on day 6 of a two week pre-op diet. Strictly yogurt and cottage cheese. Not very exciting, but do-able.

I'd love to join your group.

Thanks,

Alex

Alex,

Are you saying that you are only eating yogurt and cottage cheese? That you have to do this for two-weeks? OMG!! I could not handle that. You are doing great if you are on day 6. Geez how much weight have you lost? i would have to be like that lady who chained herself to her radiator to quit smoking. I think you are doing great. I only have a week of a pre-op diet (bless my Dr.) and it is mainly high Protein and low carb.

Angie

How exciting, our group is growing by the minute!

does that cottage cheese thing work? I could do that.

I am back on my LA Weighloss, fresh green veggies, oranges and chicken diet. I gained 5lbs over the weekend - all salt

Was it Tracy who said she was swelling like a pregnant girl... LOL

I am so right there too.

Counting down, I feel kind of helpless at this point and can't wait to go on vacation next week!

Of course can't leave home without my laptop!

Hi Angie,

Yup - yogurt and cottage cheese. Low fat, sugar free. The clinic used to do Optifast, but find that this works just as well and is a lot less expensive.

I have been prepared for this for several weeks, so amazingly, I'm doing ok. I've lost about 11 pounds. Kind of nice, because it spans 3 "tens" or middle digits on the scale. Looks more impressive than it is, but what a lovely feeling to be losing.

Just don't ask about the constipation.....

hey everyone

so we are getting closer and I am having my next panic attack. I know there are several list of things to get together to bring to hospital and have at home but I am so unorganized and don't even know what end is up. LOL

I guess I am lucky that my neighbor is going to cook for my children while i am on full Clear Liquids for 2 weeks, so I don't have to smell food. I have lots of broth, Jello, popcicles, propel and crystal light to go packs to add to my Water. What else is there on full liquids?

I have some generic things dr's have given me along the way but I won't get my official diet until I am in the hospital.

Anyone have any other suggestions to have on hand?

I'm sure I'll be sick of that real quick!

Wow.. maybe I should do that too.. should help bring my mood up! Thanks for all those extra little "tips"! :biggrin1:

I weigh in the morning, stark naked, after I go potty, before I even drink one ounce of Fluid, or even brush my teeth, after I clip my toenails, pluck my eyebrows, trim my bangs and exfoliate thoroughly!!!!!!!!

My goal of 150 is based on the last time I weighed 155 and was *almost* happy with my weight. I'd be happier at 145. 140 I'd be freakin' ecstatic.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
