Approval timeline for BCBS

Hi! I'm going to be done on Feb 4th with my 6 month diet. After all the info has been sent in to the insurance (BCBS) how long on average was everyone's wait time! I'm getting impatient and anxious haha!

Ok getting my hopes up for an approval soon! Great to hear from everyone who has gone thru the process especially from the BCBS subscribers.

My doctor said highmark BCBS is pretty quick on getting approval...she said usually less than 2 weeks. So I hope to get it quickly.

Just received my surgery date today! **March 5th** I have Carefirst BCBS and it took about 2.5 weeks to hear back. So all of my ranting was for nothing...lol. But it did help!

I have BCBS and had to do the 12 month pre op. I was told today that once it's completed and I do the requirements of the Surgeon office (which is the psych eval, nutrition eval and a medical clearance letter from my PCP that I am automatically approved. So if you had an prereq don't worry they should approve you anyway it's just a matter of getting your letter. Good Luck! Keep us posted!

That's awesome to hear cause I did have to do the pre recs and all that fun stuff... So hopefully I get that letter/call soon!!

I have found that some of the pre-op diet isn't because of the insurance company. My husband was going to use a different center than I used to have surgery do. He knew the exact requirements for our insurance butThe center he was going to use told him, it doesn't matter what your insurance requires, we require a 12 month pre-op diet. Needless to say, he has since changed his mind about what surgeon and center he is going to use.
