January 16 nervous and excited!????

After a long process, and being denied from my insurance company, I thought it would never happen for me. After thinking about it for a month I decided to do an appeal.

on Christmas when I went to get the mail at my place after spending the break with my family, I came home to the best letter. They approved the surgery. Yay!!!! I had everything all done that when I called the first of this month, my doctors office scheduled me for the 16th. Omg it's next week. I'm really nervous and I don't know many people who have had the surgery. I'm afraid I will forget the things I've learned. Nervous but def excited!

Im in the same boat as you....my surgery is on the 18th and I'm freakin out! mainly because I don't think I will remember everything! All the stuff I had learned seems like a blur now lol but keep us updated and good luck on your surgery!

I just had my Gastric Bypass on Wednesday January 16th, 2013 and I feel pretty good already. I've been out of the Hospital for four days now and start the Stage 2 liquid diet on Monday. The weird thing is that I haven't been hungry yet. Two and a half days of crushed ice at the hospital; I used to just think of it as watering down my gin, but now, I like crushed ice! My energy is good, I think because I've been taking in a lot of protein (60+ grams a day) since Friday, and I've started walking (shuffling) around the neighborhood a couple of times a day. There is some pretty good surgical pain if the meds start to wear off, so don't let it. When it hurts more, I tend to sleep more and that doesn't help. I am very excited that tomorrow I get pudding (Yea, pudding!).

Congratulations on your surgery. Mine was on the 16th as well and it feels good to be a week post op. I have my good and bad days but I don't regret it. I'm down 15 lbs! Looking forward to getting to know you! It's cool to have others with the same surgery date! Best of luck.

Wow that's great! Are you working out yet? I want to but at the same time I'm not sure if I should yet. I'm feeling hungry for normal foods because I think I'm getting sick of this liquid diet.

I'm looking forward to Monday when I get to start soft foods! I never thought I would say "Yay" to Cream of Wheat!?! I do feel lucky in that I haven't had any problems tolerating the Protein shakes, Soups or pudding. I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't tolerate chocolate pudding! I've been getting a lot of water/Crystal Light in as well as 75 or more grams of protein a day. All in all I feel pretty good. I'd like to be walking more, but we've been in a real cold snap here in Maryland and its been snowing some and I just don't like being out in the cold. I had enough of that working for the railroad!

I'm glad you guys are doing well. If you've just started the liquid portion of the diet, it gets better. I've found that if I add a sugar free Popsicle to my Crystal Light and crushed ice, then shake it good like a martini, it not only tastes better, but it gives me something extra to do that takes my mind off the fact that I'm drinking Crystal Light. Good luck and good health,

Tim.

Im on liquid phase and was told I could I have cream of wheat as long as its creamy or really runny...plain yogurt didn't settle quite right..not sure why :/ I too am excited to start soft foods phase :) hopefully next week

Not really working out, just walking a lot! I get head hunger, where I wanna eat foods that smell good or my favorites from before. My Dr. advanced me quicker, I only had to do liquids for a few days and now I'm just eating really soft foods.

Cream of wheat is the best! !!

Nice. I wish my doc did that. I'm stuck on this liquid for two weeks and I'm also craving food food (especially Italian food) oh man these Olive Garden and other food commercials are killing me.

The commercials are the worst!!! I'm Italian and I want Pasta so bad!! Everyday that the scale shows a lower number reminds me that I'm doing the right thing. Looking forward to Zumba!!

Yeah, I hear you. Will we be able to eat those kinds of foods ever? When was your surgery? How much have you lost?

I think once we hit our goal and are in the maintenance phase we can add in more foods-- within reason. My surgery was Jan 16th and the last time I weighed myself was Thursday and I'm down 22 lbs. you?

What was your starting weight? Everyone is different. I mainly eat yoplait 100 calorie Greek yogurts. And reduced fat cheese. Lots of protein and the yogurt has many flavors. I don't think I could do the shakes. Keep it up though, the weight will come off.
