Young Gastric Bypass Patients

Fred- it was a fucking bitch. But not for too long. I had surgery 12/29. As soon as I woke up they said they were taking me up to my fam, moved the bed an inch and I threw up. Thght fuckkkkk what have I done. I walked immediately (I have my daddy's will) Came home 12/31 ( would have preferred to stay in hosp on morphine drip- I abused that shit.) they took me off early in the day and started me on lortab which gave me the worst headache so I didn't even fill the prescrip. 31st/1st- slept all day, felt horrible, gas pains SUCK. And I don't mean like farting gas, gas trapped in your chest. My tummy was making TONS of noise though. I told my brother not to do his surgery lol I was miserable, depressed, uncomfortable, gassy, sore, regretful. By the 2nd (5 days post op) started feeling better. And today was even better. Didnt rely on the gas x strips so much (buy a box or two). So yes it fucking sucks. But not for too long. I think youth helps recovery also, so maybe you'll do better than me ;) I still have a hard time finding a comfortable spot to sleep in ( sometimes slightly tilted kills me), but I don't need nearly as much sleep as before (I was getting about 15 hours a day at first) praying for no complications and that every day keeps getting equally better :) btw I've also lost 8 pounds since the 31st so it makes me feel a little better lol

It really only sucks for the first 5-7 days.....after that I was feeling pretty normal. Was back to sleeping on stomach by 2 weeks out.

Well I guess I'm just lucky. I never had gas pain or had to use gas x. I didn't even have trouble sleeping. I wish everyone had it as easy! I think being young helps a lot.

I agree about the gas pain.....it is terrible!!!! It is trapped in your abdomen/cheat from surgery...it took about 5 day for mine to work it way out. I was sore bending and getting out of bed, but it is worth it. Today I am down 92.6lbs and completely happy with my decision. Ever heard the expression...no pain, no gain?? Just think of it like that :)

Anyone of you guys on Facebook? I'd love to watch some of your progress and connect :) Seeing shrinking pictures is so motivational. Only issue is MOST people on my fb don't know I'm getting the surgery, but we can talk in comments and stuff :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
