I had my surgery Monday (gastric bypass). I had this great idea that by doing it over Thanksgiving, it would be easier - kids out of school, husband home etc. I was so busy making it easy for everyone else, I didn't really plan for me. With everyone home, it's hard to rest and I'm really mourning food, which I hadn't expected. Although I have zero desire for any food, I am wondering if I made the right decision. I'm dizzy, and feel pain with every sip of liquid.

Anyone else have a similar experience or going through anything similar?

Cheer up! Just imagine yourself 5-6 months down the road. It will have been worth it! I'm having my surgery on 12/3 & am on a liquid diet right now. It's a little rough, but I just keep thinking about the light at the end of the tunnel! It will get us through! Take care!

I had surgery July 5th and mourned food for a long time sometimes still do not any where's as much and it doesn't have to be a holiday. But as you see that scale jump down its gets you excited and happy again then ull get the mourning feeling again then see the scale go down again. It is a Rollar coaster and no one said its easy!! One day at a time! One meal at a time!! I really hope things get easier for you! And yes did get dizzy sometimes still do but when that happens means I'm dehydrated I start drinking more and feel better. Good luck to you!

That would be great! I'm in such better spirits today. I found I can tolerate Silk fruit and Protein and was able to get flavored Water down today. I bought some Grape Crystal Light. What a relief! I too have lost 19 lbs and have found walking is the best medicine for me. I actually hit Target today. Although I must admit I stared at the pumpkin Pie for several minutes wishing for just one bit. Then reminding myself that I can never have one bite which is why I'm where I am today.

What has been the most difficult for you?

MichK. I to had surgery on Monday the 19th. I started out pretty good but I'm back in the hospital now. Had to have a stricture fixed. I'm a little nauseated and I'm very sore now but ok. Having to start all over a again but there seems to be mixed signals with what the Drs. told me and what the orders are. Sigh.. Anyway.,

What I like so far is G2 low cal grape, Popsicles and propel lemon. Very light flavor in the propel. I also keep going back to ice chips. Hard to track for Water intake but they are so easy to get down.

Good luck to you all!

Sweets and caffeine are difficult for me. My date is Jan 7.

I love sweets and can only recommend using lots of Splenda and Equal. Regarding caffeine, I found that switching to the cold brew method helped - it makes Decaf coffee taste better. It is also possible to transition slowly off of caffeine - example: mix caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee 50/50 for awhile and slowly increase the decaf over time. That might help. Wishing you the best of success! My surgery is in 3 days. Following the pre-op liquid diet for one month helped me cut my carb/ sweets addiction. Nervous but determined.

Hi Bakawaka, Congrats on your success, and keep us posted. So a month preop diet? I'm only required to do two. Were you just being an overachiever?

Originally I was scheduled for a two-week pre-op diet. Then my surgery got delayed by two weeks. The surgeon said it would be ideal

If I remained on the liquid diet but that the minimum number of days on the liquid diet had to be 15. The surgeon alluded to the idea that te high Protein of the liquid diet would promote faster healing. So I was by actually required to stay on a one-month liquid diet but definitely was encouraged to do so.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
