Darcy Baby, does the heating pad help at all? Where is the pain? Is it below belly button? Thank God your band is okay. They'll figure it out, I just know they will, then you will be Goddess Darcy because they'll name it Darcy's Syndrome, so nobody will have to suffer because you went through it first.

Thanks for noticing my loss. I actually hit -61 awhile back but gained 2 back. Yo-yo.

OK now it is my time to vent frustration. Since Lisa and I started this competition I have ONLY LOST 3 F#$%^&*ING lbs. So what is up with that.

I went to my regular PCP yesterday for my 3 month checkup. His scales weighed me at 244lbs which would make have me losing 52lbs so far. I like that. But my scales at home have me at 250lbs which is at 46lbs loss.

SIGH!! So confused and disappointed. I know I know I should be happy that I have lost at all and not gained. I did gain 1 lbs back from the Jamaica vacation but hey that is OK. I can lose that easy.

I am so frustrated right now. I guess this is one of those plateaus so many people speak of.

I just did my measurements hoping I would see a difference there and guess what? NO, NOTHING, NIL, NADA!!!!

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so ready to scream.

Penni - You have been through a lot lately, so maybe stress. Maybe your scale at home is not working right? Did your scale and the doctors scale read the same thing last time you went? Just some thoughts.

I have been meaning to ask you if you have some Indian in you, by your pictures, you look like you might have.

Funny you should ask that. My great great grandfather married a full blooded Cherokee indian that was on my mother's side. On my father's side my great great great grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee who married a full blooded Choctaw. So yeah there is indian blood in my heritage.

THanks for noticing. I think I see it more now as well. I honestly don't remember if the scales were reading the same or not.

Hey Lisa: Did you tell me my scales were off? Remember when you were here and you weighed yourself. Did they say you were heavier or lighter? Can't remember.

Penni you have done an awesome job & with all that you have been through the last month or so Betty is probalby right on when she says stress can cause this. Don't fret..the scale will start moving again soon. have you noticed a fifference with your 2nd fill? Could it be you are not eating enough calories. I know for me if I do not have 1200-1500 I will no lose. Anything under 1000 a day and I'm stuck. Just a thought? Hang in there~

You're doing great 44 or 46 lbs in 6 months is fantastic if you average it out it is 7-8 lbs a month. You are right on target.

Penni, Penni, Penni... you're only as sick as your secrets. As soon as you accept the fact that HAVING THREE scales IS INSANE, then the weight will come off, I promise.

Your stand-up scale showed a 12-15 pound "fifferance" (sorry, Michelle, couldn't help myself.) Lucien and I were much lighter on your stand-up compared to my scale, Lucien's, and my doctor's, which all agreed with your digital. I can't even remember what your Scale Number 3 said!

Now, let's go back to when I suggested that competition might impede our weight loss efforts, and you started flapping your wings at me and bawcking like a chicken. You'll probably drop 5 pounds Friday after the challenge is over because the competition is messing with your head.

Meanwhile, there's nothing "f-ing" about a three pound loss - that's nothing but consistent, healthy and righteous. And a 3 pound loss after going on vacation? Unheard of! So give yourself a big pat on the back, a big hug, and then go suck on a salt-lick so I can be sure you don't drop those pounds till after Thursday morning.

Betty, we're not switching scales because we agreed that we'd stick with the same scale every day. Penni's home scale matched her doctor's. My home scale matched my doctors. But there's about a 12 pound difference from hers & mine. My scale would add 10 pounds to Penni. I didn't start my journey on her scale, and she didn't start her journey on my scale - I don't think she'd like mine at all!

Penni, I weighed at Urgent Care the other day, and their scales agree with your stand-up and Dr. Billy's. Showed me 11 pounds lighter than my scale and my regular doc's.

We'll just throw all scales off the top of the Stratosphere and have our scientific friends measure the Water level after we jump in the pool for a more accurate number.

Penni, we are both big fat losers - we both win. Hell, you get a prize just for having the balls to challenge DeLarla - to anything! I just love ya so much that I think I'll go to Zabba's and eat a big fat Mexican bowl with extra cheese and sour cream, just for you.

Awww you guys make me cry with such caring and support. LOL!! I don't even use the other two scales anymore since I got the stand up scales.

So I am not even sure where I stand now on weight loss.

The PCP scales have me at 244.

My home scales have me at 250.

Dr. Billy scales have me at 250.

So what do I weigh????? Only the shadow knows!!! LOL!!

Ya know what. All I know is I feel great. I look great. I have way more energy than I used to. And I am fitting into much smaller clothes.

Thanks guys for the pep talk. IT is working. LOL!!!!!

I have lost 24 inches total all over and that is GREAT!!!!!!!!

I am in a smaller size clothes!!!

I can breathe now!!!

I don't get out of breath when I walk across the floor!!!

My blood pressure is no longer out of control and I am off medication. In fact my BP was 120/80 at the PCP Monday. Can't get better than that.

My knees don't hurt when I walk.

My back hasn't bothered me in ages.

People I haven't seen in ages are doing double takes at me. ;)

I am being flirted with more. :):D :D

I think that is enough for now.

Whoooooo Hooooo Penni! It sounds to me like you ae doing great!

You are both winners!

I think ya both should go on the ride at the top and when you both get the s$it scared out of you, then weigh and see who ended up the bravest!;):):D :D

Lisa - I didn't know you had that scale thing going, I guess that would only be fair.

Good Luck to both of you, but I actually can only see winners regardless.

Hey Kids,

We're all winners not only because we're losers, but because we knew life wasn't good for us before, and after trying everything that didn't work, we didn't give up! We did what some might believe unthinkable, but at least we did SOMETHING!

I love all the positives Penni listed, and hope to have a similar list in the near future. I wish we could somehow collectively reach all those who have given up.

I love being a loser!

And we collectively have enough gas to save our country's energy crisis - you forgot that one.

Penni, I say throw away all your scales then go to Walmart, line up every single scale, weigh on each one, then calculate the average.

I don't know how much I weigh either. I'm always several pounds lighter in the morning. I weighed 255 the other morning stark naked at home, but later that day I weighed 247 at Urgent Care fully dressed in jeans and 2 lb boots. My clothing was about 3 lbs, so my scale is 10 pounds different than Urgent Care. So, maybe I'm really skinnier than I think? Where are the scientists today? How can we figure out what we weigh?

Just go by the one you both started the contest using. I would think thats fair. In my chemistry class we got to use these high tech little scales to measure all of our chemicals and we would weigh the sample 3 times and take the average. These scales measure to the 1000 th of a gram and here we were having to take averages of .000#. I think your both winners too. Teresa

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
