Hey Teresa... that's a great weight-loss!!!! WTG!

Hi Betty... Well... the fill is going so well that I am starting to wonder if I will really need the one that is scheduled mid October. THe restriction really kicked in over the last two weeks and I am struggling to listen to the less obvious signs that I am full... I'm learning. THe pain that I get with the one little bite too many is enough to teach this old dog new tricks! I eat VEWY VEWY carefully. :D Thanks for asking! Now... go get those B-Day spankings!

Well Sweets... if you click on "lapband forums" scroll down to the bottom of the page... and the B-days for that day are listed by user name. :D Sometimes I forget to look though... so if I miss anybody's special day I hope I'll be forgiven. :D

Well... I will wish everyone a happy weekend! Everybody that is going to Vegas must be getting pretty excited with the date coming up so soon! I wish I could go! Anyhoo... perhaps next year.

My hubby and I have walked the 2.5 mile outing every night this week. We are going to a Brewer's game in Milwaukee tonight... so this will be our night off. We'll be heading up for an overnighter at the shack again this weekend... soon the weather will be too cold so we are getting our time in while we can! I know I won't sleep while we're there... heck... I hardly sleep here at home... so I should be pretty tired out by the time we get home. I've been a good girl about not getting on the scale even though I had intended to do so... guess the once weekly thing has really become a habit. I'm making little goals for myself as the big one seems bigger than life.... it's easier if I set a new small goal after every weigh-in.

Anyhoo... take care everyone... ((((hugs))))

Darcy - You sound like you have a good system. It is nice to have a partner to do things with you. Have fun at the game, and at the cabin.

Lisa - Thanks! My DH took me out to dinner and a few too many beers, but since I don't drink too much anyway it was a cheap one for him. :D

Lisa... no more B-Days... hmmmm... well I think that you look pretty darn youthful and should keep having them if for no other reason than to hear... Damn girl... you don't look a day over 30!

So... here we are... checking in for another week... and I am pretty darn glad to have a place to do that! I have really been struggling with desire to have faster weight-loss and head hunger that overshadows that desire. I do well during the week... the weekends seem to be a whole different story. I think the only reason I am losing weight at all is due to sticking with the exercise. I have a fill scheduled in less than 2 weeks and don't really know that I need one... I feel like I am restricted but there are time that I feel I can eat too much. I guess if I am honest wth myself... it is not that I'm eating big quantities... it's more snacking on carbs than I should. I lost 1.5 lbs this week which brings my monthly total to 5 lbs. That's not up to snuff with the hopes that I had but hopefully I will learn to work as hard on cutting carbs as I have with the exercise from now on. If not... at least the numbers are going down instead of up!

Have a good week everybody!

I disagree. To me, five pounds a month is fantabalistic. Think about how much five pounds is. That's a bag of potatoes, or 20 sticks of butter. In 30 days? Sounds amazing to me.

OK pretty bummed right now. I just weighed myself this morning. I am up 1 lb. Back to 250lbs. UGH!!!!

I am not at all surprised that I gained a lb. I did not eat band friendly while I was in Nashville and Kentucky for the funeral and Mom's tests. I was very very very bad. Binging alot. Late night eating in the hotel room. Bad Penni Bad Penni!!!

OK now that I am back home I can concentrate on losing that lb and lots more. I have to call the doc and see if he can squeeze me in this week or next for an appointment. Hopefully he can. HOORAY!! I just called him and I have an appointment on the 30th this THursday.

So Lisa I will at least lose that one lb and maybe 2 or 3 more before the BASH. I think it is a safe bet that you will most certainly WIN this thing. So, what you want?

Hey Penni, I mean, Mom, :)

Are you sure you aren't just letting Lisa win 'cause she's just a kid? Don't give up so easy.....Boy, I love this race! :laugh

And don't you give up, either, Lisa. What would we do for entertainment without you two. :D

Hey now Miss Becca Lee! Just because I'm having my 42nd birthday dinner at Chuckie cheese with all my neighbor kids doesn't make me one. I'm not a kid. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, but if I don't win I'm never coming out of my room!

Actually, Penni, it sucks that you binged... but did you really eat too much, or just the wrong stuff? I'd rather eat the wrong stuff than too much. Every time I see a pound go away I tend to binge. Today I was good, and I had no intentions of being bad for dinner, but then Chris cooked, and it was just too damn yummy. He fried an entire chicken in garlic and olive oil, baked potatoes stuffed with butter & soft cheese, plus corn. Throwing away half my potato still has my head freaking out - it's right there in the garbage, and it's really mad at me. But for a banded person, half a large baked tato, cheese, 2 chicken wings plus corn is too much. My belly is filled.

Penni, good to have you back. It's weird around here without you.

So, now let's talk about me some more - HAHAHAH. Don't throw your shoe at me!

Chris gave me presents early because he won't see me in the morning, and it only took him 13 years to figure out the true meaning of giving. I told him not to spend much, so he got me beautiful leather gloves, biker goggles and 2 charms for my charm bracelett. But that's not the good part - he snuck over to Harley and picked up my jacket that I didn't know was in yet. That's the kinda gift I like, the one where he goes out of his way to do a nice thing for me. So he made me put all this black leather on, and I look like James Bond. I feel ridiculous, be he's all excited that he finally has a biker wife. I finally made it to the "surrender" stage, so I put on my new goggles and gloves and hit the streets. I went farther today and got involved in more traffic. And I even went to Bab's and took her for a ride to the corner and back since she only weighs 80 pounds soaking wet. She was so excited. It's all so funny. I go from being fat polyester girl to big bad looking biker broad overnight. I'm actually embarrassed riding that thing around - I feel so flipping stupid in all my Barbie Biker gear! But it's kinda fun, I suppose.

That is so cool, Lisa. :) You'll get used to the biker gear and not feel so conspicuous. It does feel a bit strange at first. I bet you look really hot!

Happy Happy B-Day!

I always had crappy birthdays till last year. Then I decided I didn't want any more bad ones, so last year I planned my own party. No lie! It was a blast. This year same thing - Chuckie cheese pizza. Far out!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
