I'm new to this. Learned about it lastnight while talking in the dr's office waiting to see the dr. I had my surgery 10/31/12. Since pre op. I've lost 18 pounds. This is extremely tough. I didn't realize I would be struggling so bad to get in Protein and eating. I hope to use you all for help and support. So far, staples and drain is out and I'm on phase 3, but I don't want to eat and I'm definitely not getting my protein. I'm trying to get it all figured out. Wish me luck.

Welcome and you will find a lot of good support here and bit of craziness too, so don't be scared away LOL. At your stage don't expect to get in all the Protein, I did not start worrying about Protein numbers (as it was not feasible and so why stress) until I was cleared for all foods about 6 weeks or so, if I remember the timing right. But at that point then I started using myfitnesspal and watching protein levels etc. Don't get me wrong by stage 3 I was eating my protein first and so was working on it, I just didn't count it out. But considering I was lucky to be eating 400-500 a day I know there was no way I was getting in my protein amounts. By 3 months I know for sure I was getting in over 75g of protein a day and have done so pretty much since. So give yourself time.

BTW I found the costco premier shakes at 30g a shake are a great way to start your day, it is all I still eat for Breakfast. Either that or I make a shake with SILK light (4 oz) with frozen strawberries (2) and half of a banana with a scoop of unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein powder and I get almost 30g of protein with that. Both of those you could consume now, but maybe not in one sitting.

I also am not hungry yet and really don't want to be, because it sure makes it easier to stick to my plan if I am not dying of hunger LOL. I do feel empty and know it is time to eat though.

If you have questions just ask and someone will answer for sure. We are good at sharing what we are or have gone through!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
